Just wondered...plz give your reasons why :) Thx.

My personal favourite is still Quake 1 :)

The game came out just after my daughter was born in 1996 and was the business at the time. Okeee YES Unreal came out shortly afterwards and kinda blew the Quake single player game away but IT [quake] was a pretty significant title when it launched and is still pretty good fun today :0 (just bit ugly hehe!)

Thx again :)

Ade.

Without a doubt Quake 1 was the best.

Singleplayer was a real gas and when me and my buddies finally broke into multiplayer we played it non stop.

Travelled the country side playing LANs and Competitions, met tonnes of cool ppl through Quake multiplayer, I miss the game and the ppl in my old Quake clan when I think about how much fun we had with it.

In my mind still one of the greatest games ever created and the when we were first able to play GLQuake that was sweet.

My old clan was called Cowboys from Hell (after a Pantera album).

Aaaaah memories :)

Quake 2 for me. It's one of my top 10 favorite games of all time. I also really like the single player in Quake 4. great job of bringing quake to modern computers.

I'm going to have to say Quake 2, simply because I spent so much time playing Weapons Factory and Rocket Arena 2, and to a lesser extent Action Quake 2.

However, the original Quake has a special place in my heart :D And I was very pleased with Quake 4's single player campaign as well, it was a lot of fun. The multiplayer didn't seem anything special though, which was rather disappointing.

Good ol' Quake 1 for me, at least for single-player. It's the only game out of the whole series that really gives you that gleeful sense of carnage and survival. Even to this day, the original Quake is by far one of the most visceral games ever made. Running like hell through mazes of grimy, dismal alien corridors; gunning down truly bloodthirsty enemies that won't hesitate to shower you with acid, blood and vomit; frantically searching every nook and cranny for the medkit that will drag your health out of the red... This was punishment perfected. To tell you the truth, I never understood what the big deal was about Quake 2. They threw out the whole dark style of the original game and in its place created a cleaner, brighter world that lacked the wicked angles and insane geometry of the original. It was fairly generic stuff, even for its day. The plot still wasn't anything to rave about, the enemy cast of revolting demons had been switched for some generic cyborg-looking dudes, and the game didn't even taunt you when you hit the "Quit" button. Weak sauce. Both games had killer soundtracks though. Too bad they didn't continue that trend with the sequels. :(
