By "reasonably affordable" I mean ideally no more than US$600. I don't need a performance hog. Just something that can handle photoshop, movies, and some lite gaming. I've considered a netbook, but I fear they would be inadequate for my needs. Real world input would be much appreciated!

Hmm, it looks like you can only get that price through Best Buy. Which is a problem as, last I checked, they won't deliver to my area. (*tried ordering a computer from them a few years ago*)

Umm, though 600 would be ideal, I might be able to squeeze my budget to 700. Also since I wouldn't be playing really intensive games, Intel Graphics are acceptable.

That's a good idea. But then what is a good laptop in that price range with a larger battery option?

EDIT: How about the Inspiron 15? The base configuration is only $380. If I add a 9-cell battery and LED screen upgrade it would still be well under my budget. I've heard iffy things about Dell though. Does anyone have input they could share, particularly with this model?

I've had good experiences with Dell laptops, not so much desktops though... I've never had to deal with their customer service though, so I can't help you there.
