Who here on GS has the worst PC gaming rig? And what kinds of games do you play on it?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Intel Pentium 4 560
Nvidia GeForce 8800gts 312mb
Intel 925xe-ich6r
DDR 2
Don't know if this is enough to specify it,but in simple terms,it sucks. Mostly only play source games and get around 30 fps.
This is not a gaming rig but I'll post it anyway.
Pentium 4 2.8 GHZ
512 mb ddr YEUH
integrated intel graphics
80 GB hdd
Before I upgraded a few weeks ago I had:
Pentium 4 640 3.2ghz
2 gig DDR ram
8800gs 384mb
160gb seagate HDD
Some crappy NEC case
Now I have:
Phenom X2 550 BE 3.1ghz
5770 1gb
4 gig ddr2 ram
WD 1TB cav black HDD
Coolermaster 922 HAF.
Its a standalone expansion.AMD athlon II X2 3.00GHz
4 gig ram ddr2 1066
Nvidia 9600GT
pretty much play anything I want still. Total War Empire has probably been using up most of my time. Not sure if I'm getting Napoleon right away it seems like an expansion.

Uh for my desktop? I wouldn't win that contest, but I still have a usable laptop, which I use occasionally. p3 @ 800mhz, 256 megs of ram 40 gig hd. It's hawt. I also have a laptop from Toshiba, something like I have no idea how much ram acutally, 5 gig hd, couldn't install win 98, only 95. I don't think even Damn Small Linux would run well. JigglyWiggly_
LOL winrar. My old laptop from 2003 has similar specs (it's a toshiba as well) but it barely works. Celeron 1.5ghz, 256mb ram, 20 gig hdd. Takes about 20 min to boot, longer if avast is updating. Was thinking about using it for ubuntu or maybe backtrack but I think the hardware (more than likely the HDD) is damaged hence the horrid performance even after reformatting.
Well OK first my retired desktop,
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ single-core
2GB DDR400PC3200 RAM
40GB Maxtor 7800RPM HDD
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo
512MB XFX GeForce 8800GTS Alpha Dog edition
Creative X-Fi Extreme Music soundcard(the heatsink fell off it so I chucked it casue I couldny be bothered fixing it, so onboard now)
Cheap/Sh*tey case with generic 400W PSU(Noisy as the M1 on a Monday)
Win XP SP3(AH the comforting feeling)
Now for my weakest rig, and the one I have now, my laptop
ERGO Ensis 211
2.0GHz Intel Core Duo T2500
1GB DDR2 667MHz ram
80GB HDD
Intel 945GM Express GMA 950 GPU (if you can call it that)
Win 7 RC 32-bit
Sam The Bam
Old desktop:
Pentium 4 3ghz
512gb ram
80gb hdd
Ati x300
My laptop:
Pentium dual core 1.73ghz
Intel gma 945
120gb hdd
my buddies rig:
amd athalon xp 2.5ghz, 1.5GB ram ddr400, nivida geforce fx5200 256mb (pci), generic intel mobo
im gonna get him a new one that will whistle to this tune:
amd anthalon 64 x2 + 5200 (2.6ghz), 2gb ddr2-667, visionteck hd 3870 512mb, msi p6ngm-l

Ubuntu won't run well. WIth a GUI on it anyway. Too little ram, Ubuntu needs 512 to be happy.[QUOTE="jrhawk42"]Its a standalone expansion.AMD athlon II X2 3.00GHz

most pc expansions are today... I'm mostly worried that it's just not going to be worth $40 basically just empire w/ a new campaign. Not to mention empire was fairly buggy until the patches came out.
I have an old rig
Pentium2 Deschutes @ 333mhz
RAM: 32mb
8mb of Video memory (Riva i think)
5gb of of HDD lol
i loved that thing, but it would ALWAYS crash hahaha
