I'll most likely get one if the price is right. If not I'll go for either the 780 or 7990.

I think I might wait for non-reference cards. Its suppose to run hot. Plus that gives me time to save up more money. I need to build a new computer this fall. I hope a 30% sale pops up from buy. com or something. I need to save every penny.

Yeah I'm definitely going to wait, unless it's quieter than the 7970.

I dont think so that asus or msi gonna have problem with sound or heat . ASUS ROG cards with amd are really good .

if only AMD do some tricks with their driver , with 500$ card that outperform titan that is really awesome .

I'd probably get a 280, but I already have a 7970GE, and the 280 is a rebranded version of what I already have :P

290 looks good though, hope it does well

Mantle has me interested so my next upgrade will probably be AMD, but Its too soon to ditch my GTX670 FTW. I'll see how its holding up when the next series comes out.

Yeah, I think I'm going to hold off for another generation or so. I'm going to hold out and see what Skylake has in store, along with DDR4, new mobo, etc before tossing out the Crossfire 7950's. They're still working brilliantly with any game I toss at them at 1080p. I figure they've got another 2-3 years left in them before I get the itch to upgrade them and keep everything maxed out. Still, I'm interested to see what the new 290x will retail for in the next few months.

Theres no way in hell I would buy this card. Its easily going to be $600-650 which isn't worth it considering the die shrink (20nm GPU"s) are due next year. There's many cards with better value that will last till next year's new GPU lineup

if it's costs the same as the TItan, I'd go with the Titan coz it takes less power from the PSU, aside that. They only card worth getting from that series is the 280X which is almost as good as GTX770 but cost way less.

Most of the charts clearly show that Titan performs better. Why pick r9 290x over Titan? Not to mention that GTX 780 performs almost as good as R9 290x. So, why would anyone want to buy R9 290X?

@mastershake575: i agree. $500-$550 tops. if amd goes over the $550 price point by even 1 dollar, i'll just get a gtx 760 or gtx 770 4gb and coast on that (saving up moneyin the meanwhile) until volta.

Because Titan is like £800.

It beats the 780 in every test, and that's what we're expecting it to be priced against.

290X pulls away at higher resolution, too.

Huh because R9 290X is beating the Titan and it will cost $300+ less. Titan is costing over $1000. Plus, it will support Mantle.

Going back to the topic, if I had the dough, I will definitely pick the R9 290X. When the prices come down, my target is to get a R9 290X if I am in the market to get a new GPU.

Yeah, minimum 600. Too much.. I'd rather buy another GTX 670 when it's like 200-250

I'm fine with my overclocked 7950 have it at 1100mhz on core and1300mhz memory. Should be above at least as fast as a stock gtx 680 or 7970 ghz at those speeds. The best upgrade for me is another 7950 I could get it for $200 and pick from 3 free games and sell crysis 3 as I already have it to lower the cost.

Well since the 280 is a rebranded 7970, it is Cross-Fire compatible with the 7970 (if you ever need that extra power). Also AMD has been making progress with their micro-stuttering driver issues in crossfire too.

Good card but I would of waited. Nvidia announced the 780 Ti yesterday and it looks like its coming out either the first or second week of November. A lot of rumors are suggesting that's the regular 780 is going to drop in price to compete with the 290 while the 780Ti takes over the current 780 price point ($650 USD). That would blow if you just bought a 780 classfield for the same price as the 780 TI that's coming out in about 3 weeks....... (theres a decent chance that's the case).

Most likely since I game at 5760 x 1080p. Also, AMD Mantle negates console's slim down API advantages.

anyone that buys AMD is just asking for trouble. 90% of the time when a new game comes out and there are issues, they are exclusive to AMD cards.

that preview only shows 1080p...and it cant even meet the performance of the titan at that resolution. there is no way that card is performing BETTER at higher resolutions.

it IS cheaper, and that is great...but it eats power like crazy, runs hot, and isnt at the same level of performance... so wouldnt you expect it to be cheaper?

Exactly I have had AMD for about a year and a half, and the only game I had trouble with was Metro LL on the first day and AC3 (which to this day runs poorly). It happens to both, how was tomb raider or BF4 beta when they were released?

no thanks. im right, and you are mad that im right.

AMD has a horrible track record. for some reason people still stick with them because they are slightly cheaper. pay a little more, have no issues.

tomb raider and BF4 beta? both were/are fine... played them on day 1. no issues at all.

if you are referring to the TressFX gimmick in tombraider, why would i care about something that looks ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE and destroys performance even on AMD cards?

anyone that buys AMD is just asking for trouble. 90% of the time when a new game comes out and there are issues, they are exclusive to AMD cards.

nvidia + intel = winning combo.

take the fanboy glasses off

Exactly I have had AMD for about a year and a half, and the only game I had trouble with was Metro LL on the first day and AC3 (which to this day runs poorly). It happens to both, how was tomb raider or BF4 beta when they were released?

tomb raider and BF4 beta? both were/are fine... played them on day 1. no issues at all.

if you are referring to the TressFX gimmick in tombraider, why would i care about something that looks ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE and destroys performance even on AMD cards?

Keep lying, it's amusing

AWWWWWW you mad that someone with an nvidia card is having a better experience than you?

you must own a lot of stock in AMD to be so defensive of them.

nvidia makes better products for slightly more money. get over it.
