Oh, I understand why too, and I agree that a keyboard and mouse are technically a superior control scheme. But if the game is being developed to be perfectly playable with a gamepad, then I think it's probably a safe bet that using a mouse and keyboard isn't really going to be all that advantageous anyway. It's like saying that we shouldn't have to use a joystick to play a flight simulator, even though the game is clearly developed to be played with a joystick. Quite frankly, I suspect that the reason most people don't want to use a gamepad has nothing to do with efficiency, and everything to do with overzealous "consolephobia".JN_Fenrir
Then your "suspicions" are incorrect, my refusal to entertain the use of a joypad has nothing to do with "consolephobia" and everything to do with the fact the joypad is the most retarded control contraption I have ever had the misfortune to use. It is one of the key reasons why I game on the PC. All the games I enjoy benefit from being mouse/keyboard controlled and there is no reason to suggest that Deadspace 2 wouldn't be fantastic with decent mouse and keyboard control.
Now I will agree that different control schemes fit different genres. If I wanted to play Flight Simulator X I would of course use a joystick, if I wanted to play Street Fighter 10,000 I would use a joypad. Now Deadspace 2 is a third person shooter, last time I checked "shooting" was a hell of a lot better with a mouse than a joypad. Let me put it this way, if Microsoft said "we are developing Flight Simulator 11 with the mouse and keyboard in mind" you would think that is the most retarded statement on the planet.
The mouse and Keyboard is the dominant control system on the PC, there is absolutely no reason why Deadspace 2 could not make use of this control system to it's fullest. Instead of catering for what PC gamers want we get subtle hints to buy a joypad. Hm shooting with a joypad no thanks that sounds about as much fun as trying to fly a jumbo jet with a mouse in Flight Simulator X.
