Who's made the switch to Blu-ray? Or who's still content with DVD's?

Even though Bluray is the winner of the HD format war who's still gonna make the jump? Or who's staying with regular dvds? I'm perfectly fine with my DVD upscaler. I'll consider purchasing blu ray once price comes down or when the best blu ray player isn't a game console.

After seeing my blurays in action, I find it hard to look at anything less. You can get blurays for reasonable prices on half.com. For me, if it's between a dvd and a bluray dvd, I'll search for the bluray online instead of buying the cheaper dvd.

Same. The pure bliss you get from BD is awesome. The top notch sound if you have a receiver capable and a good HDTV, there is just nothing better. I'll never go back to dvds.

exactly, treminator 2 on blu-ray kicks ass. I only have 2 bookshelf speakers, but they are very good quality, and an onkyo 705 receiver. I'd like to make the jump from my 32" samsung lcd to a 40" something samsung plasma.

I have. They look great, but just not worth the cost at this time. I only have a few choice BR movies and at $30 Im not in a hurry to buy more anytime soon. DVD still looks pretty good upscaled on my HDTV. I watched Empire strikes back on DVD and it looked crisp and clear. I'll probably buy BR if there is a movie I really want and plan on watching more than once, but I'll stick with DVD on everything else. They need a price rop on BR now.

I am already an early adopter of both blu ray and HD DVD. If there is a Blu ray or HD DVD option availible, I pick that version. I just wish that Fox and Warner Didn't milk their consumers (I paid I Robot for $35 at Best Buy), at least Sony and Disney Don't milk consumers like that (Although some of sony's movies, particularly Paprika and Close encounters cost a bit too much).

I made the jump to Hd Dvd.... then a few horrible months later I made the jump to Blu. Blu and Hd Dvd look pretty similar, but Blu probably has a bit of an edge. However, I don't think I can go back to standard definition now, Hd is so nice!

I made the jump and I love, I'm already pushing 40 Blu Ray movies. The only problem is that when you are forced to watch a movie on DVD it looks so bad.

I've switched to Blu-ray. I've never paid more than $18 for a movie. A couple of weeks ago I bought Terminator 2, Total Recall, and Stargate for $8 each from J&R. Buying Blu-rays from a B&M is robbery. E-tail FTW.

The morons at paramount that chose HD DVD exclusively, then a couple of days before they released Bee movie, they cancelled the rest of they're HD DVD's, including Bee movie, Sweeney Todd, There Will Be Blood, and many others. I think Paramount did some of the worst choices in the High Definition format War, ones that hurt Both Blu ray and HD DVD owners (especially Blu Ray owners). And yes I do also support HD DVD.

I think it depends on the quality of the source material, I tried to upscale Saving Private Ryan on DVD and it looked terrible but both Star Wars episodes 2 and 3and Braveheart looked near HD quality.

have any of you seen the original blu-ray release of Full Metal Jacket the picture was terrible no better than the DVD.

I made the switch awhile back. Besides the detail in the picture, the richness of the colors did it for me. DVDs just look flat and dull to me. If there's a choice between the two formats, I get the Blu-Ray. I'm also slowly migrating some of my favorites over.

I have both connected to My HDTV and did a "bake" off between the Blu Ray and the DVD upscaling to see the difference.

Setup:

Panasonnic Viera LCD

Samusng BDP1400

Samson 850 upscaling DVD player

The differnce is night and day, the picture on a Native Blu Ray disc is way better. DVD is poor compared to it.

No contest.

I went to HD-DvD and now sadly have gone to Blu-Ray. My DvDs look nice up-scaled but nothing compared to the true HD picture, color, and sound you get with the high definition disks.

It depends on how expensive the Blu ray is. I purchase blu ray if I can.
