Who's made the switch to Blu-ray? Or who's still content with DVD's?

Even though Bluray is the winner of the HD format war who's still gonna make the jump? Or who's staying with regular dvds? I'm perfectly fine with my DVD upscaler. I'll consider purchasing blu ray once price comes down or when the best blu ray player isn't a game console.

After seeing my bluray's in action, I find it hard to look at anything less. You can get blurays for reasonable prices on half.com. For me, if it's between a dvd and a bluray dvd, I'll search for the bluray online instead of buying the cheaper dvd.Ripcurl530

Same. The pure bliss you get from BD is awesome. The top notch sound if you have a receiver capable and a good HDTV, there is just nothing better. I'll never go back to dvds.

exactly, treminator 2 on blu-ray kicks ass. I only have 2 bookshelf speakers, but they are very good quality, and an onkyo 705 receiver. I'd like to make the jump from my 32" samsung lcd to a 40" something samsung plasma.

but then decided not to until the blu ray's them self go down in price

I made the jump and I love, I'm already pushing 40 Blu Ray movies. The only problem is that when you are forced to watch a movie on DVD it looks so bad.Large_Soda

I don't understand why Cloverfield isn't on BD.

I'm content with DVD for now. Maybe I'll feel differently when the costs come down.

The morons at paramount that chose HD DVD exclusively, then a couple of days before they released Bee movie, they cancelled the rest of they're HD DVD's, including Bee movie, Sweeney Todd, There Will Be Blood, and many others. I think Paramount did some of the worst choices in the High Definition format War, ones that hurt Both Blu ray and HD DVD owners (especially Blu Ray owners). And yes I do also support HD DVD.

I think it depends on the quality of the source material, I tried to upscale Saving Private Ryan on DVD and it looked terrible but both Star Wars episodes 2 and 3and Braveheart looked near HD quality.

have any of you seen the original blu-ray release of Full Metal Jacket the picture was terrible no better than the DVD.

I have both connected to My HDTV and did a "bake" off between the Blu Ray and the DVD upscaling to see the difference.

Setup:

Panasonnic Viera LCD

Samusng BDP1400

Samson 850 upscaling DVD player

The differnce is night and day, the picture on a Native Blu Ray disc is way better. DVD is poor compared to it.
