Weird and hilarious. Have you checked your Ipod if it's connected or some other device that may be broadcasting a station then outputting it through you Speakers? or Something like that? Also is your PC connected to any media servers which may cause that? Like perhaps you're using a neighbors internet and he's broadcasting a station which you may have accidentaly picked up in your media server. LMAO Make sure it's none of the programs on your PC like Media Player, or some other download and stream device. Have your tried disconnecting the setup and reconnecting it on your speakers? I have to say I lmao off when I read this!!!!!!!!!

Pretty much any audio electronics are susceptible to AM broadcast radio interference. All it takes is something to act as a diode to rectify the signal. That it happened late at night and then went away is telling. AM stations have to reduce power or shut down at night because at night their carrier will bounce off the ionosphere and interfere with other stations on the same frequency a very long way off (Check this page from the FCC.). So there doesn't have to be a station near you. You can actually talk to the FCC about this, if you want; there is an e-mail contact at the bottom of that page.

that is weird yet hilarious. i know of all radio stations in my city and we are 100 miles away from any other metro area and my city's metro area has nearly 600,000 people.

i only once heard people through my speakers when they were off

My studio monitors sometimes pick up short clips of conversations that truckers (assuming) have when they use their radios.

There are some home made stations that don't follow over the air guidelines correctly. Listen for them to give the station name and report them.

You Sir hit the nail on the head. I couldn't have said it any better myself. On a good night, I can pick up signals (faint of course) from Chicago, and I'm in west Texas.
