The only vampire game that is worth playing is vampire bloodlines and to be honest it isn't that good. Combat is not good, pretty unbalanced and there isn't alot to do in the world. Does anybody know of a good vampire game other then bloodlines?? Romeo00z
Been asking myself the same question, dying to see some cool vampire game like in the Blade trilogy; Well there's Blood Rayne 2 but that's not enough; you can play as vampire on Oblivion by joining the assassins guild.

Haha, Twilight has eclipsed all other vampire fiction and media? Please, that doesn't stop other modern vampire series like Anne Rice's from fading away. Seriously, it will ruin vampire fiction if you all don't let go of it. For such a mediocre series, Twilight isn't even worth complaining about.

Back on topic, I wish there were more vampire games too. There wasn't much left for me to play after Bloodlines, which I finished not too long ago.

Mm... Blood Rayne comes to mind.. even thou the game had issues, it was fun.

In all honesty, Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines still remains once of the best Vampire/Rpg games.

Vampires are badass, those sparkly, gay vampires in twilight are nothing compared to "real" vampires. God I hate that movie, if you can even call it that. The vampires in "The vampire diaries" are cool, they have amazing powers and a game with vampires with powers like that would be really cool. I guess you can't get everything you wish for.. :(Romeo00z

Castlevania i guess is a vampire game... but yeah thats PS3 =/ Pretty sweet game though.

Prexxus

They are also on Wii, Xbox, PS2, PlayStation, N64, Sega Genesis, SNES, NES/Famicom, TurboGrafx CD, GameBoy, GameBoy Advance, Nintendo DS. There are ways to play most of those on the PC, though. Oh, and an arcade game, the sharp X68000 computer, and the MSX (those last 2 were Japan-only).

Edit: There's also one on the PSP - though there is a Konami compilation containing the 3 NES Castlevania, along with Contra and Super-C on the PC. MSX and X68000 were also technically "Personal Computers" anyway.

Once you patch it up, Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines is an excellent and scary game with plenty of atmosphere. But, I agree, we need a new Vampire game.

I wish some smart game developer would tackle Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Plenty of atmosphere but as the article says, gameplay is bad and repetitive in respwans. The Bram Stoker idea is fabulous....

And here's an article that pretty much refutes most of the stuff in the one you posted: Forever Young, The Tragedy of Bloodlines

Yes, I think everyone would agree that the last act of the game really suffers and is broken to some degree but that's what happens when you team up with a greedy publisher like Activision who shoves the game out the door before it's obviously been completed.

And that I think pretty much sums up the ultimate Tragedy of Troika. They really did hook up with some awful publishers. Activision, Sierra, and Atari were all terrible in their own, Ninth Circle of Hell, sort of way.

PLEASE READ

FelipeInside

  • IGN: Bloodlines is a much stronger game than the previous one in the series
  • Atomic Gamer: an action-RPG that's on par with System Shock or Deus Ex
  • Cinescape: I don't know that I've been as immersed in an RPG since Knights of the Old Republic
  • CVG: Had the melee been more refined...and the niggles ironed out, then you'd be looking at perhaps the finest RPG of all time
  • RPGFan: If it hadn't been for the bugs, this game would have been one of my favorite RPGs of all time

1) I actually met Anne Rice - she's extremely mentally ill, and a quick read of her other books about sadism pretty much confirm that. I wouldn't want to play any game that she had anything to do with.

2) Twilight? I don't watch much TV, and I stay away from teeny bopper pop culture, but from what I understand - it's like some emo vampire soap opera. Again - doesn't sound like it would make a very good game.

3) What would you do in a vampire game? Hunting them would possibly be alright, but playing as one seems a little weird. . . depressing even.

The OP already said Bloodlines.

DeadlyWormy

Nobody on GS bothers to read anything past the subject line much less the thread. This whole thread has just degenerated into a pointless debate over the merits of a game that the Op has already played.

To the Op, based on what you've described it doesn't sound like Bloodrayne/Soul Reaver style games are really what you are looking for but rather an RPG that's in the spirit of the Pen and Paper RPG. Beyond the ones actually based on the White Wolf RPG that have already been mentioned (Bloodlines and Redemption) there aren't a ton. I can name several poor quality games like Nightwatch (based on the Russian horror novel and movie of the same name, the characters are "others" which are similar to vampires). Unfortunately this is a bit of a niche category.

If you don't mind playing something a little bit older, I played a game a long time ago back in the DOS/Amiga days called Bloodnet. It was a Cyberpunk/Vampire genre adventure RPG. As for current titles, I can't think of any beyond those mentioned.

Not sure that in practice it would be as fabulous, just thinking about the load of terribly lame movies that borrowed too heavily from Stoker makes me cringe. :p

As for the OP: No, there are no good vampire themed pc games besides the Masquerade ones. Morrowind GOTY has Vampire themes in it, yes, but it's more of an addition to the whole fantasy setting.

I believe Castlevania: Simphony of the night is the greatest vampire game ever made. After all, you play as a vampire.

Next, the Legacy of Kain series., then i would say Vampire: The Masquerade.

There are good vampire games, you just need to search for them, i guess.

Then you get comments like the one above and the whole idea of discussing things in a civilized manner grinds to a screeching halt. So, people then take the, "when in Rome" attitude (I know I'm guilty of this) and the flames ignite. What can you do?

Yeah, there is a lot of "My opinion is the truth and nothing else matters" here... I guess sometimes I get pulled into this too, but most of the time I try to restrain myself and accept other people might have different views on things. example of an internet discussion:

"you are wrong, i am right LALALALALA"

No, that's an example of how YOUR discussion goes on the internet. Other more respectful and mature people know how to carry on a discussion/debate/opinion... THAT's my point EXACTLY.

You have no idea what a discussion/debate is about.

Of course you have to respect other people's opinions, or else there wouldn't be a discussion in the first place.... you're opinion would be ALWAYS correct and everybody else would ALWAYS be WRONG.

thats pretty much how every discussion on the internet goes.... yeah. so..... what is your point exactly?

LOL.... no, not new to the internet and forums (if you check, I have been a member of GS since 2003). It's just what I wish it was like, but you are right.... for some reason respect and maturity don't exist on the net...

The only good vampire games i can recallare Bloodlines and Redemption. Since this topic (I mean vampires) is not so famous along the RPG gamers, there aren't many vampire games. Bloodlines is really buggy, since it came out unfinished and redemption is hard to make playable, because it freezes or comes up with an error message for me, or just simply forgets my save games.
