why cant i run COD MW2 on max settings??

i have a intel C2Q 2.33, a gigabyte Main board, 2GB Ram, 9800GTX SUper clocked and Windows 7 64 bit, i can run the game on high settings on Res 1680x1050 on my 19 inch montior and it runs prefectly, if i up the settings to Extra it do not stop lagging, to laggy to play, i even tryed the game on my 32 inch HD TV using a Res of 1440x**** and it still laggs on Extra settings, shouldnt i be able to play it just fine?

Are you playing multiplayer or when you say "lag" do you mean that your framerate is low?

i max it out with a 3870, so you should be able to easily max it.

I have pretty much the same system specs the OP has, except I have 4 GB of RAM, and I experience hang-ups as well. I doubt that this game is all that more demanding than CoD4; it should run fine.

I believe there's a known VRAM leak issue. It'll 'stutter' like crazy after playing for a few minutes on extra settings (on some cards).

You ram is kinda small, I would suggest another 1gb.

A fix is to lower all texture settings to high instead of extra.
