It got bad reviews because some people just dont like it. There are a few people on SW that loved the game but it wasnt my cup of tea either. Everyone I know IRL hated the game and most didnt even bother to complete it.
If you have patience for the clunky controls and the bad character animation as well as lots of time to be bothered to sit through loads of dialogue then I suppose you may like it.
