why did gigabyte release a 950 MHz 560 after the 1GHz version?

Gigabyte had released a super overclocked version of the gtx 560 which was clocked at 1000 MHz. But recently I saw they had a different version out that was another super overclockedone but is now at 950 MHz instead. Does anyone have any ideas why this is? was the 1 GHz version encountering problems or anything?

Probably for the simple reason that they ran out of 560 cores that ran satisfactorily at 1ghz, so they downclocked them to 950mhz (still very fast) instead. They may have had some issues with their 1ghz SOC 560 Ti's, but I haven't heard about it. I always assumed that it was just an issue of yields.

6950's with a 30 mhz overclock come very close to a 560 SoC at 1ghz. Overclock the 6950 more than 50 mhz and it will beat any 560 on the planet.

i can get a gigabyte 6950 for about 8 euro more so should i get that instead of an SOC 560? i've heard the 6950's aren't great at over clocking and the 560 can overclock near the potential of a 6970

I say the number one reason why they did this is for 1 money(to cut down on costs) 2 which is really number one also, is that it may have been over stock of unsatisfactory 560 1GHz cards, that they may have disabled and down clocked them to 950MHz, to cut down on cost and have satistfactory speed and preformance? 3 Or it could have been to gennerate less power consumption and lower heat disapation? Which is usually the case

At the end of the day im sure they have good justified reasons. And its only downclocked by 50 MHz which is very minimalistic. And not even noticeable to most people. Im sure you could see a difference if you tried. 950 MHz OC for a 560 is still insane. I guess 1 GHz just sounded better, Im still gonna be happy with my 950 MHz 560
