It has such a huge following and I've tried to get into it multiple times, but it just never stuck. If you're one of the fans of TF2, what is it that you love so much about it?

[QUOTE="Lox_Cropek"]Why? "The graphics are cartoony" is what I expect to be the reply. What? That doesn't make any sense[QUOTE="rhazzy"]

[QUOTE="Lox_Cropek"]Why? "The graphics are cartoony" is what I expect to be the reply. lol no it's not... at dx81 and absolute lowest textures in my config file(like way below lowest in game setting) now it does not look cartoony, just bad lol.[QUOTE="rhazzy"]

get the 360/PS3 version if you don't want many retards on pc with retarded hats and weapons are accesories and dat

Did they even update the ps3 version like ever? 6 maps and dead servers would suck.
I maybe wrong but there could be vanilla servers still floating around on pc.
- The gameplay is so smooth and fluid, as is the graphics engine.
- Weapons are nice.
- The gameplay is unique.
- The classes are fun to play.
- There's some nice strategic elements to the gameplay and classes.
- Hats.

This.
Also it is a lot of fun to just play with a community of people you like.
If you find the right server it's fun. I get bored on servers where nobody talks and it's really quiet.
I also like playing mods (tfdb, prop hunt, vsh). The game can go from relaxing to intense.

Read it again. Pay special attention to the part after the quote marks. There's no such thing as DX81.lol no it's not... at dx81 and absolute lowest textures in my config file(like way below lowest in game setting) now it does not look cartoony, just bad lol.[QUOTE="JigglyWiggly_"]

Read it again. Pay special attention to the part after the quote marks. There's no such thing as DX81.Probably DirectX 8.1-dxlevel 81 parameter is valid for source
"The principle difference between DX8.0 and DX8.1 is in the pixel shader and vertex shader specifications. DX8.1 pixel shaders provide more texture inputs, larger maximum program length, and unlimited texture addressing modes. Certain bugs found in DX8.0 have been fixed in DX8.1.

Why would you even reduce settigns so much? With 2 GTX 460s even if you do it just to get really high fps, you'll reach the limit which will probably not even be far from your limit with highest settings-dxlevel 81 parameter is valid for source

Read it again. Pay special attention to the part after the quote marks. There's no such thing as DX81. It's DX 8.1, which is basically a "hack" to get rid of anything fancy related to graphics that might obstruct you from being "leet", but e's trolling, it obviously looks terrible when you force a game to run on an obsolete DX on the absolute lowest settings,I got bored of it after 30 hours personally, but I still play it with friends a fair bit. I think the main draw (for me at least) is the fact that it is so teamwork focused, and the design of the classes and maps kinda forces you into teamwork (with a few exceptions). It also has some hilarious voice acting.
Well balanced class-based gameplay, plenty of interesting and unique maps/modes, a dependency on team skill and strategy and no dependence on modern "realistic" FPS mechanics. Lots and lots of weapons and hats to collect doesn't hurt either.
So yeah, like I said. No such thing as DX81.-dxlevel 81 parameter is valid for source

I personally prefer Fortress Forever because I like the fast-paced gameplay and Quake-esque acrobatics much more than TF2. Not to mention it actually harkens back to the older, original Fortress Games, unlike TF2. :?
However, some friends want me to get back "into" TF2 to make a team on the side. Are there any configs that would give my crap machine a good, consistent FPS? 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB.

That and it has personality, the Banter that the characters spill is just epic thanks to their VA, and the Visual style is appealing and nice to look at.
Found something Thanks anyway though. hahaI personally prefer Fortress Forever because I like the fast-paced gameplay and Quake-esque acrobatics much more than TF2. Not to mention it actually harkens back to the older, original Fortress Games, unlike TF2. :?

If you are referring to the fact I am calling it 81 instead of 8.1, before 10 a lot of the DX'z were called 80 and 90 and such.
[QUOTE="Starshine_M2A2"]It's simple and undemanding with a good sense of humour. But that's also it's problem since there is very little gameplay wise to distinguish it from other generic FPS games like CoD and Counter-Strike. Run, shoot, kill, die and repeat.CaptainAhab13What? The Fortress genre differs itself IMMENSELY from CoD and Counter-Strike, I am actually having trouble comparing them beyond being FPS's. Another useless post from a useless contributor...

"Run, shoot, die, kill, and repeat" describes many multiplayer first-person shooters. I'd definitely say TF2 is a pretty unique game within this "run, shoot, die, kill, and repeat" genre.
