1. As others have stated earlier in the thread, it is usually a player's first MMO. Therefore, they are usually oblivious to the repetition at end-game, especially with raiding.
While being true, like HAlo , like Nintendo Wii, it brought in gamers that didnt normal play those types of games, but to think that hardcore MMO'ers didnt switch to WoW for its quality is abit wrong aswell.....
2. Blizzard fanboys are very loyal, as others have stated. They usually do not explore beyond the Blizzard catalog. Shame, they're missing out on tons of gems.
Sorry, proof of this? Blind Accusations mean squat ;)
3. Real-life friends do contribute to a major factor to keep someone playing. That's what brought me to start for the 2nd time as a Mage, and quit a week before school started (See bottom paragraph for a detailed explanation.)
First part is true, but friends help all types of games.
4. It's a very very watered down MMO. That's what is keeping the 10-11 million players, little effort put in for maximum reward.
5-6 hour long raids, very competitive tight laddered PVP arenas not to mention everything inbetween is little effort? What is considered effort in an MMO then?
5. Rose-tinted glasses on people that think the PvP system is actually good. WoW is a PvE game. Why did it take Blizzard so long to implement the Honor system? Because it's a damned PvE game.
The PvP gameplay is one of the best, the content for PvP is what lacks.
6. It's WarCraft. Anything WarCraft = OMG ITS TEH AWESOME SAUCE.
Shame that few know that WarCraft is child's play to the titan that is Warhammer.
Srry what? I keep seeing this, but most of the old Warhammer ( Non 40k) RTS are pretty mediocre, regaurdless of a table top game that has nothing to do with video games... Warcraft has better gameplay, more appeal, and a good competitive standard, what warhammer RTS has that ( non 40k ).
This whole Warcraft is a Warhammer Clone stuff is redundant, and irrelevant to the gaming world...
7. Players are not willing to give other games a chance. Warhammer Online in its current state is in better condition than WoW was at release.
Losing alot of content, 1 sided faction balance, is a good state?in a game where PvP balance is crucial from the very beggining?
8. Extremely low hardware requirements = happy customers because they're too stupid to want to expand their brains and become better individuals while learning how that "steel box that does things" works.
Elitist and irrelevant.
9. More people playing must mean it's good, right? Wrong. Halo 3.
Wether you like it or not, Halo 3 is a great game, Im not fond of Halo either, but I can appreaciate the production values that made the game so lovable.Same with WoW
10. Because apparently there's only one PC game in the eyes of those that only play WoW.
Idiotic generilization.
I finally quit because my guild was stagnant, the officers were basically lobbyists, not wanting to push forward, only backward. We usually downed a boss every 2 months, but had a "growth spurt" at late July, downing Void Reaver, Solarian, and Tidewalker all within a week and a half of each other. Before school started, we downed Rage Winterchill, with me being #1 on overall damage as well as on the boss. If I out-dmg Rogues, then something's wrong.
PunishedOne
Come back when you WoW haters and WoW Burn Outs actually got more ammo that generilizations. Its just the height of Hypocrisy.
