I looked on newegg to see if there were any processors that I could upgrade my machine with, and it looks almost like they took down 90% of all the 939 chipset processors and moved them on to the AM2. I'm not sure, but I thought that 939 came after AM2, but I'm not 100% sure if that's true. Why did the 939 processors die out? Is there a problem with them?

939 then AM2 now AM2+. They were phased out because the performance margin between 939 and newer AM2 was tiny. Save up and go Intel.

I'm in the same boat. I'm just going to wait a while while the newer technologies and such settle in more.
