1. games dont always work straight away even with the best hardware

2. you can never have the best hardware for more than a month

3. computers crash

4. i cant be **** getting the latest patches and drivers for my graphics cards, motherboards, windows xp, etc. etc. all the time!

5. it cost me 2 grand to buy and play crysis

6. other people have to use my computer and **** it up

7. microsoft is evil

i miss that feeling i used to have with my playstation 1 where i would buy a game, put it in and play it without a worries in the world. who else misses that sometimes when trying to get ****ing bioshock to work? (which i did after finally getting the right drivers).

1. most of the times game generally work. very few cases one has to wait

2. who cares. i don't even have the best hardware for on second

3. only if you don't use them properly. ps 2 and 360 have a lot more hardware problems

4. companies don't rlease patches and drivers and patches all the time so how do you keep getting them . anyways they are not such a big deal and you should keep getting those patches even if you have a non- gaming pc

5. crysis is only one game and there are lots of other games you can now play with that pc. also you cannot have a game like crysis on consoles

6. don't let them or give them guest account

7. not evil, just greedy. so is sony

With all of those misconceptions, you don't sound much like a PC gamer to me. More like a console gamer who tries to be a PC gamer but doesn't learn about all the different facets of PC gaming.

1. Many PC gamers like fixing issues they have with games and troubleshooting their way through related problems.

2. You don't need the best hardware to enjoy any game, most hardware available now can create an experience no console could ever dream of offering.

3. Yeah, they do... ever hear of the Red Ring of Death?

4. Again, many PC gamers like staying up-to-date with all the latest bug-fixes and patches, that make their gaming experience much more enjoyable. Not to mention, the PS3 and 360 are both offering patch updates for games to fix major issues, and they are released long after they would be on PC.

5. Then you spent far too much.

6. You don't have to let them use your computer, if you bought it.

7. No they aren't, they are a corporation out to make profit. Have fun not using any computer then, because chances are, MS has a hand in something with all computers.

I agree with Udsen......if your having this many problems your most likely using your PC incorrectly. Remember, a PC has many more abilities than any console machine and requires you to be more responsible in maintaining it properly. I'm sorry to hear you sour on PC gaming for the reasons you gave, most of which can be avoided easily by you yourself.

lol whats this **** on me being a console gamer "trying" to be a pc gamer? give me a break just because i dont enjoy fixing problems and such like you mentioned doesnt mean **** ive played games on the pc my whole life but lately these sorts of issues seem to be popping up alot more than they used to. and yes alot of these problems can be fixed and have been fixed but as i said before i still have to worry about it.

i should say also that i think the pc is superior to consoles in every way minus the things i pointed out. and 2 grand for being able to play crysis and almost the highest settings without any lag doesnt seem like a rip off but i still hate having to upgrade my pc yet again.

and i was joking about microsoft, dont take it so seriously lol.

firstly, i never said anything about i console gamer or anything. now the pc you have now can play games at very goot setting imo for the next 3 years or so. after that an upgrade will most probably keep you at good seeting. so, unless you always want to play games at max settings i think upgrading every 3 years or so to play at medium - high setting is no big deal.

Fixing problems comes with the territory. You don't enjoy doing it then just leave it alone and find something else to play. And services like Steam take out a lot of the guess work with many games. Auto updates are a godsend for the PC industry... if only more developers started using services like Steam.

If you spent $2000 on a rig to play Crysis and spent it well, you won't need to upgrade for AT LEAST 2 or 3 years. Around the time the next consoles come out.

I don't understand how you can call these things "problems" if you know that they come with the territory. Custom hardware and open source software make these kinds of things inherent of the products. There is no closed platform on PC, everything has to be taken into account when making a game and sometimes, things get missed or overlooked... and most PC developers make solving the problems as painless as downloading a new update.

Even the consoles now are becoming more and more like PC's and have many of the same headaches that come along with it. If you cannot deal with it, I think your going to have a hard time enjoying any form of modern gaming.

You have heard of the "Red Ring of Death" have you not? The inherent flaw (non-intentionally) built right into the hardware of the Xbox 360 that makes it extremely prone to hardware failure which made MS spend billions of dollars to extend the warranties ont he systems to 3 years? And the GPU damage on the Wii caused by WiiConnect24? And updates/patches released for many games to fix programming and hardware performance issues for console games?

Indeed. It isn't common but I myself have suffered the issue. Not as seriously as others but it is noticeable. Just like with any hardware damage, it has caused graphical flaws in the rendering process and needs to be repaired. Heck, the PS2's had terrible hardware failure issues back at the time of release... which I also had the "privilege" of being part of.

Actually "you cant have the best hardware for more than a month" is complete bs.

From november 2006, the QX6700 + 8800GTX combo lasted for over half a year as the best hardware available.

And to add to that, having the best hardware often doesn't make a difference. I didn't have the best hardware from mid 2006 to mid 2007, I was still maxing games out. I don't have the best hardware now, and I play Crysis at high all round at 1600x1200.

Sound like your just a blind fanboy or just someone who doesnt really know anything about computers, in that case I can see where your coming from. In other words your an casual.

1. True, but the tweaking some games require takes only minutes if you know what your doing.

2. True, but you can have hardware good enough for 2-3 years.

3. Crashing is caused by something and ultimately it occurs because of the actions of the user. Someone who knows what they are doing (like me) rarely see's their computer crash. Its been more than two years ago since my XP crashed. Programs can crash but OS rarely if you take care of it.

4. You dont need to. Its of course recommended to download windows updates (the first tuesday of every month) for you personal security but driver updates are hardly needed. Only graphic card drivers are good to update now and then but not even monthly. I really dont see why you complain.

5. It cost me one grand to play Crysis on high settings.

6. So its not even your computer meaning you didnt even buy it yourself?

7. True.

I really doubt you paid 2000$ just to play Crysis and even if you did you didnt buy it yourself. Someone who personally uses that much for their hardware wouldnt come crying here like some blind fanboy.

1. Amen 2. Amen brotha! 3. Doesn't happen often to me, i patch, maintain, update and make sure my OC is stable. 4. ^ 5. I'll wait when the game is cheap and mid-range hardware can play it on high. (plus i'm not rich) 6. LOL, my bro recently wants to play COD4 and bugs me I agree, that's what consoles are for, i have a Wii and i'm getting a PS3 soon.

My computer is basically a 2003 cobbled bundle of joy: A 3.2Ghz Northwood proc; 1.5GB PC3200 memory; GeForce 7800 GS 256MB videocard/IDE RAID-0. It plays most games fairly well at medium/high settings, and I'm in no hurry to upgrade to C2D or a Quad, no matter what hype is said about a game (no game will be truly revolutionary with an upgrade, nope, none). Want to conserve energy (this system runs 24/7); keep the system cool (Proc: 89F/GPU:130F average); and will last for 3 to 5 years (still have a working 286 computer, let alone my trusty Asus TXP4/P233MX/48MB RAM computer). Not blowing money on hardware like condoms, as I remember the b--a--d old days of computing when parts were scarce.

So, you can play almost any game now with an average PC system, even Crysis. But iffolks want bleeding edge, don't whine about literally bleeding to keep up -- it's called bleeding edge for a reason and whywise gamers stick with second generation hardware.

Password a new thing to you? If you aren't allowed to put a password to your accoun, it doesn't really sound like the PC is yours or you've paid for it.

Like foxhound said, I enjoy troubleshooting. Fixing something is an accomplishment, just like finishing a game.

1. games dont always work straight away even with the best hardware

On your PC they might not

2. you can never have the best hardware for more than a month

Yeah because every PC gamer is fussy about a tiny upgrade in a graphics cardin its series

3. computers crash

so do consoles

4. i cant be **** getting the latest patches and drivers for my graphics cards, motherboards, windows xp, etc. etc. all the time!

Windows barely ever needs to be updated. Graphics drivers don't really need to be updated much, not all games need patches and even when they do, it takes seconds to do it. BTW, your internet sucks, upgrade it.

5. it cost me 2 grand to buy and play crysis

You got ripped off even if that is in Yen.

6. other people have to use my computer and **** it up

That's your problem

7. microsoft is evil

Microsoft don't own PC gaming, they own Xbox gaming.

i miss that feeling i used to have with my playstation 1 where i would buy a game, put it in and play it without a worries in the world. who else misses that sometimes when trying to get ****ing bioshock to work? (which i did after finally getting the right drivers).

Dude, get a job and your own PC, and learn how to use it. I have had mine for 2+ years now and I NEVER have had any hardware issues, and it seldom if at all ever crashes, and that's usually due to the game.

1. games dont always work straight away even with the best hardware

I've never had a game not work on my system.

2. you can never have the best hardware for more than a month

8800GTX has been at the top for a year now. And it doesn't matter if you have the best hardware because buying the top of the line will max games for a long time.

3. computers crash

Not mine. Maybe you should take care of yours?

4. i cant be **** getting the latest patches and drivers for my graphics cards, motherboards, windows xp, etc. etc. all the time!

I can't rememeber the last time I updated anything besides Windows XP and my graphics cards. And Windows XP updates itself =\

5. it cost me 2 grand to buy and play crysis

I spent 600.

6. other people have to use my computer and **** it up

Same here, let limitations.

7. microsoft is evil

=

i miss that feeling i used to have with my playstation 1 where i would buy a game, put it in and play it without a worries in the world. who else misses that sometimes when trying to get ****ing bioshock to work? (which i did after finally getting the right drivers).

I paid 1500 for my PC nearly two years ago and thats with a warranty and shipping and handling added in. The only game I have had any slow down in is Supreme Commander and that was simply because default settings were too high runs smooth as any other with the settings all down and unit cap still up. I have no interest in Crysis as it looks just like every other shooter to come out only with better graphics and I am not as obsessed with sparkles now and then.

My Xbox360 I baught last year, and it crashes all the time with a " Disc Read Error. " While the real problem is the Xbox simply stops spinning the disc. I can hear it stop and it has the nerve to tell me that games I just baught are the problem.

PS3 was around 500 last time I checked, and all I would use it for is games. PC on the other hand I can browse the internet with as well as have a near endless supply of games due to mods as well as retro games that are fun years later.

So do I think my PC was a waste of money even though I am not able to run things on the highest sparkle? Of course not, I do feel that my Xbox360 was a waste since I could have easily upgraded my PC with the money it cost and made everything run better as well as opening me up to several other games I cant afford due to the price of the Xbox.

I do miss the days of spending 150 on a console, and 50 on games and never having problems. However nothing is stopping me from picking it up once again. The only problem comes from people who are more interested in graphics than anything else.

For the record Orange Box works on all the highest settings and I enjoy the heck out of it in all its sparkling glory so dont think that I say graphics dont matter because I dont have anything pretty.

pc gaming hates you, heres why:

1. Thats a client issue if its not the hardware its your lack of ability to get the game to work like others have

2. Yes you can by buying future proof parts that are easily upgradable or are so good you have no reason for well over a month..

3. Consoles die out, their disk lasers break or collect dust. Heard of the RROD?

4. That's your problem again for having issues with menial tasks, btw all those drivers really only need to be downloaded once presuming your not a total fool and know where to get the latest versions..

5. That's your problem anyone can easily buy a pre-built computer for 1000-1200 dollars that could run crysis, and non pre-built even less..

6. Again your fault, consoles can be used/destroyed by other people much easier (pcs have tons of lock features/file protections apps..) and quicker considering if a disk breaks/scratches for a console say bye bye to the game.

7. ahahah get it Micro$oft

Ps: one sucks

how long do you really think it will be before they have another breakthrough in graphics and mine is out of date, again.all of what you said is true but its still stuff thats annoying to deal withand is what makes being a pc gamer so **** annoying when in comparison to a wii for instance.

so you've missed my main point.

Minglis

dude, you are the reason you hate being a pc gamer. If you keep this attitude, no wonder you cant enjoy. PC games are great because of their GAMEPLAY! Quit worrying about how they look and enjoy them.

Idunno, maybe youre just not cut out to be a PC gamer. PC gamers are enthusiests, we care about games...if you want eye candy and simplicity go play 360 or PS3.

a majority of people who have a lot of problems on pc are the ones who try to super budget it by buying crappy components and then wonder why things go wrong

3. only if you don't use them properly. ps 2 and 360 have a lot more hardware problemsnaval

PC games crashing is a result of bad programming, or not testing out the product on an adequate number of configurations - to cut corners.
