I in no way condone cheating, in my opinion if you want to cheat then you need to man up, grow a pair and learn to take your licks in life. If that is something that you do then a ban is definitely in order. You don't get good at anything in life if you cheat!
However the question I have is, does Valve have the legal right to cancel your account and stop you playing single player games you have legally bought from them. Server bans for cheating in multi player, then I say fair cop and tough luck.
But if you have bought and paid for Halflife 2 for example, and you get caught cheating in Half Life 2 Deathmatch, do they then have the right to stop you playing Single Player HalfLife 2 or any other single player games you have purchased through Steam?
