Well as the title says I am done with PC gaming. I won't say that that PC gaming is dying overall , because it isn't, but to me it is. The biggest reason I'm quitting is the fact that PC gaming has eliminated one of the greatest factors, gaming for fun. My first PC game was Battlefield: Vietnam and my first PC ran it at the minimum settings but the mods and online play was one of the greatest things I've experienced. Then I bought a new PC (for only $350 and ran most games up too 2006) I was able to max out Call of Duty 2 and playing the campaign like that was probably the greatest thing in my gaming history. Things only got worse when I bought a Nvidia GTS 8800. I was now playing COD 4 and WAW and obsessing over graphics rather than the game and dealt with a lot of lag ( don't remember consoles lagging that much). I started online and dedicated servers were nice but I felt that 80% of the people online were cheating in someway, and that was a major turn off for me. A lot of people don't like PC gaming because its too expensive, well I disagree, I was able to get a fairly high end PC for no more than $500 and I can play most of the new titles on high or max. Another turn off is the patches and updates, I hated buying a game only to find out I had to find patches and in some cases find updates for my drivers. I hate having to study a PC game just to see if I can run it. There a lot of PC gamers who enjoy opening their PC and putting in new parts, learning how to overclock and buying new parts, and I'm happy for them and I'm not trying trying to put them down. But I hate dealing with new parts and opening my PC. The PC mod community is the best I've ever seen, free high quality mods will be greatly missed. I plan to buy an Xbox 360 and resurrect my PS2 and Xbox and continue where I left off. I will keep some of timeless PC classics (MOH:AA + expansions, Vietcong purple haze, original Call of Duty ,and original Ghost Recon) and play them from time to time. I will once again enjoy coop and split screen multilayer with friends. And to finally be able to put a game in a console and playing it within 2 minutes on my comfortable couch vs my uncomfortable PC desk and most importantly being able to have fun. I apologize for the rant, I just really wanted to get this off my chest.

Why we don't care...because we don't.

Maybe you should play some other genres than FPS. Don't be afraid to play older games either because unlike consoles, the communities of old games on PC are still strong

My 8800 GTS runs pretty much everything I throw at it, and runs it well. Granted, not at 45,567 x 22,012 resolution, but whatever. In other words: you're doing it wrong.

well i have tried console gaming this year, after 18 years of PC gaming. there is a lot of crap to deal with on consoles too. to be honest i found console gaming to be more hassle than PC gaming if you use Steam. and xbox live costs nearly as much money as keeping a PC upgraded (if you're not a graphics whore). i like some of the consoles but the PC is definitely my home. and no stick will ever be able to match my G9 mouse.

Cry more.

- The lag comes from your computer not being able to handle the games at 'max', from you not having a great internet connection, or from you connecting to servers that are too far away.

- I build my PC once and don't deal with it again for a very long time. If you build a good rig you won't have to buy new parts all the time, but when you only spend $350-500 on a rig you should expect it, because that's a crappy rig (no offense).

- People online are not cheating (99% of the time), it's just that you suck.

- Patches are great. They fix bugs and make the game better.

- I rarely upgrade my drivers. Just keep them up to date big deal.

Console gaming sucks, except for when you're at a friends house and feel like gaming.

This really doesn't bring any discussion into this thread. Just make a blog post on it next time.
