Maybe we want more... well... flashy PSU's than that? Or ones with a larger wattage?

I mean, I can get a PSU for free once the mail in rebate is taken advantage of, but why doesn't anyone go for those?

Is there a quality issue here, or is it that I have no longing for an aesthetic appeal beyond the actual gameplay

do you think that PSU will handle an 8800 GTS? It does meet the system requirements

Yes, I believe it should work just fine.

Edit: After reading Staryoshi's post, I've realized my mistake. This PSU doesn't have the necessary 6 pin connector, nor does it have 2 4 pin molex connectors. My bad.

Quality my friend, quality. I'm currently using a 480W PSU that cost 20 bucks, but my new rig has a corsair HX620W. It's worth spending a little more $ to make sure the entirety of your rig is safe from harm. Plus active PFC, modulation, and oodles of cables are nice features to have, too.

That PSU doesn't have a 6 pin PCIE connector, which the 8800GTS's require 1 of. My answer is NO.

If there's one thing I've learned from building PC's, it's to not go cheap on psu's. They will usually come back to bite you in the ass.

Yeah, a good PSU is a good thing to have.

As I build more and more powerful systems as the years go by, I'd rather have a PSU that I know is stable and capable of supporting what I throw at it. Plus, knowing that my hardware isn't at a greater likelihood of getting fried is good too.

So yeah...quality matters. You get what you pay for, right?

Put together a rig with an OCZ GameXStream 700 Watt PSU yesterday.

I want one.  It is just a superior PSU in everyway compared to what I am using.   Even though my PSU has plenty of power, it is simply outclassed in every regard compared to this unit.  Heat, volts, watts, cables, connections exc.  Grabbing one of these units would benefit a rig as a whole.  If its not just because of the steady rails, it due to the superior cables. This will allow keeping the case tidy easier helping airflow exc.

If a person doesn't think a high dollar PSU is worth it, they either are not using highend parts, or have not been exposed to one.

It's a quality thing, as everybody else said. The comparison I've heard people make on here is that the PSU is to your computer as the heart is to your body. You don't want to cheap out on that unless you know exactly what you're doing.

It does not have the 6 pin PCI-E connector, but it most certainly has 2 extra molex connectors
