Why is nvidia 600 series still so expensive?

The 680's on newegg are still around 500$ while the 770's which out preform them are only 400$. You'd think they'd drop the 670 to 300$, and the 680 to like 350$.

660 TI's need to get their ass down to $200 or below so I can snag one already

Waiting for GTX 760 to be released so I can see where it fits in.  I know that the claim is that it will be faster than a GTX 660 Ti while having fewer CUDA cores, but I'll believe it when I see it.  I was really hoping that it would be a $300 GTX 670.  Instead I may end up buying a used 670 if I can find one under $300 that has a good cooler.

The 700 series isn't completely out yet so they're in no rush to lower the price.  Personally, I just use ebay if I'm going a few gens back (I did that with my 560ti).

Prices in Overclockers UK seem to have dropped. The GTX 670 range used to be mostly over £300, but now they are under that point. Same with the 680 which used to be over £400 are now in the £300 range.

isn't newegg able to return video cards that aren't sold?  Or get a manufacturers discount to get rid of the ones in stock?

I haven't heard about it.  Nvidia says that the GTX 760 is the last 700 series GPU they are releasing this year.

That strengthens your case even more.  I will believe that the 760 is faster than a 660 Ti when I see the official reviews.  If the 760 is a $300 card, I'm a little upset with Nvidia for gimping the GPU by reducing the core count.  Why couldn't they give us a product that's superior to the 660 Ti in every way at the $300 price point?  They pump up the memory subsystem but gimp the GPU.  If 760 is a $250 to 270 card, that's fine.  If 760 does manage to be faster than the 660 Ti despite the lower core count, that will show us even more how badly the memory subsystem on the 660 Ti hurt it's potential.  

660ti, 670 and 680 are now pointless (to buy)

760 matches the 670 for the price (actually should be lower) of a 660ti

770 beats a 680 for the price of a 670
