Okay so this is my first Elder Scrolls game ever. Bought it after all the awesome reviews it got. So far its been so so, Im a level 8 character with a single handed weapon and fire. I find it hard to stay alive in most of the dungeons. And theres barely any gold to buy enough potions to stay alive. Am I doing something wrong or is this just a rite of passage?

You are doing something wrong.

Sorry this is the PC forum, we are all to incompetent, and pompous to actually answer real questions. We much prefer to troll around, posting memes like morons who have never seen genitals of the opposite sex in our entire lives.

Seriously though, if you want your question answered, don't post in the PC forum, its just filled with trolls. Try 360 or PS3 forum. OR the official skyrim forum.

Idiots like yourself are suspiciously absent on the console, and official game forums. So yes, that is much better. If he asked this question in the official forum, or on a console forum, he would get a serious answer.

Skyrim? Hard?

Lord_Nas3k

What difficulty?

If its too hard just summon some dragons on console.

I bet these guys were real worried they weren't going to be able to increase their self esteem today, thank goodness someone who wanted a real question answered came to the rescue.

Can't you just lower the difficulty? I haven't played it, but there's also generally a specific way elder scrolls games push you towards in the beginning, and generally for a good reason.

I know my little brother didn't bother reading anything that anyone was saying in New Vegas in the beginning and walked straight into an area with deathclaws, so you could've done something like that.

It's not supposed to feel very difficult (albeit, there are some hard parts). I recommend you don't stick to only a select few of skills. Mix and match and find what works for you :). For example, if you need potions try making your own with alchemy, if your armor/weapons are lacking try smithing, if you find yourself low on health try restoration, if you want the edge in battle try sneaking. Anywho, I hope that helped :). Feel free to ask anymore questions and good luck!

Off Topic : God damn kids and their fancy new ways of joking .

On Topic : The game isn't hard , it's the difficulty meter that you have to change . If you are new to a "real" open world game then even at very easy the game seems hard . You just have to figure out that the NPCs in this game or in Oblivion are dumb as a chicken in a room full of mirrors . You have to start crafting and selling , if you are having trouble with gold .

In case you actually get a clue, you're the most idiotic person in this thread. The TC asked for advice and you thought "hey, I should just act like a complete moron, arrogant and ignorant prick and be as random as my half functional brain can be". D'oh, well I guess I just did the same thing, just for you. Skyrim isn't a hard game, if the "junk" you find in game isn't as valuable as it should, there are mods for that, mods that increase rewards for quests, etc.

Okay you're the only one being a retard here. On topic, Skyrim is not a hard game, in fact it's way too easy. If you really are having issues just go to the options and turn the difficulty down until you're character becomes a god among men with little to no combat experience. You must be doing something very wrong though to be having issues with difficulty.

What exactly are you having trouble with? I know you can't go toe to toe with dragons or giants until you get to higher levels. Learned that the hard way but most of the dungeons aren't too hard. Just don't charge in and try to kill everyone in sight like it's a hack and slash like Diablo. It's best to try and sneak and try to draw one or two enemies away at a time. I like to grind them down with magic until they get close enough to melee them. I had a lot of trouble with Morrowind until I got the hang of it's combat system. Oblivion and Skyrim have very similiar combat systems.

Sorry if I've messed up the thread's really positive vibe by trying to actually answer the starter's question.

ESC - Options - Difficulty Otherwise weigh stuff out by gold to weight ratio and sell... It honestly isn't a hard game, just gotta get used to it I guess? Combat tends to turn into abuse the **** AI once you realize how stupid they can be. Also, don't fight the damn giants unless you have essentially unlimited arrows or your high level... or you can put a small body of water between yourself and them, they don't have water wings apparently...

No, you look foolish for playing a downgraded port for 800 hours and thinking you actually have skill. By your logic, why don't we control FPS games with PS1 controllers (no analog sticks) since it's very hard, and the people who play the most will obviously dominate!! Oh wait, that's just retarded. You do realize most of the people that make those stupid COD montages on Youtube are using a keyboard and a mouse on their consoles, so they get the advantage of the added accuracy AND the ridiculous aim assist that console games have? Playing on a console is just like Runescape, the more you play the better you are, it has nothing to do with actual talent, intelligence or tactical awareness.

How to fix your monetary problems

  1. Find Chaurus Eggs (Found in various dungeons, shimmermist grotto isnt too far away from whiterun and contains around 70 eggs)
  2. Find Luna Moth Wings (Luna moths spawn near whiterun between 8 PM and 2 AM, look for them, each luna moth gives you 2 wings.
  3. Buy as many garlics as you can (they are dirt cheap)
  4. Combine the 3 ingredients on the alchemy table, sell the potions you make
  5. Enjoy your influx of cash

Also, work on all 3 crafting skills (smithing, alchemy, enchanting), brew potions, dont make them, the potions you make will be far superior to those you can buy eventually. You should also have a healing spell on your char already (if I remember correctly, you start with one), so check your spell list.

You can just lower the difficulty if you're having too much trouble. Even after that, avoid groups of enemies, giants, and trolls until you get stronger. The easiest way to level up is by doing in-city jobs and tasks. They're usually just running errands or doing something else that's fairly simple and combat-free. After you gain experience from that, you can level up. You'll be better off if you focus on one job tree to save yourself from being stretched too thin. There isn't level scaling in Skyrim, so you should be alright unless none of my advice is followed.

Try these things:

-Use healing magic as much as you can. Potions are a last resort while the magic is 'free' and a renewable resource.

-Get a shield. You should use fire as they close the gap and then use the quick menu to switch to your shield so that you can block the melee damage. If you can time your blocks right you will mitigate most of your damage right there.

-Pick a set of armor and level up that perk tree. IIRC there is a bonus in both the heavy and light armor trees for wearing a full set of armor.

-If all else fails, lower the difficulty. It is a singleplayer game and no-one is going to judge you for choosing the lowest difficulty.

[QUOTE="TheFatPerson"]

You are not smart. You are not clever. Get over yourself.

If you're going to start sh!t for absolutely no reason, at least do something other than spouting out the same regurgitated replies, calling people stupid without any coherent reason for doing so.

Wow, this is probably the most ironic post I've read on here.

Didn't think too much before you hit the post button, huh?

It really is astounding the average level of intelligence on this forum. Even the most simplistic of concepts, like proof-reading is far beyond the intellectual prowess of each poster.

Ok now people. If you keep responding to him, all he's going to do is just keep up with childish nonsense. "IGNORE HIM".

Skyrim was hard for me at first as well, when I kept finding myself in places I wasn't supposed to be and got killed by sabre cats even with heavy armour and ranged attacks (not both in the same character, mind you.) Now I have a level 46 experimental mage/assassin character that wears no armour and attacks in melee, and I'm killing everything in open combat except Ancient Dragons. That's right, even a purely experimental character which I half expected to fail somehow succeeded. Here's what I did: 1. For the first 18 to 20 levels, I strayed no further west than Rorikstead, no further north than Halted Stream Camp, no further east than the Valtheim Towers, and no further south than Helgen. I kept levelling on easy enemies like bandits and wolves before I was finally ready to go east to Ivarstead and see the Greybeards. 2. I pick up pretty much everything in sight and spent very conservatively. I did not buy Breezehome, relying instead on free bed and storage at Winterhold. I now have over 120,000 septims and can afford anything I want. 3. I stocked up on potions, but made sure I wouldn't need them for most encounters. This was because even at higher levels dragons remained a problem - I could stealth-kill pretty much everything else. This also provided an opportunity to counteract vendors' lack of gold by buying potions first, then selling my loot to get the gold back. 4. I was patient. Detection simply means running away and trying again. I avoided as many dragon encounters as I could until I got Dragonrend and Throw Voice, and when I had to try stealth-kill an Ancient Dragon, I used Dragonrend and/or Throw Voice repeatedly until I finally got the opportunity to strike. 5. I stacked up on magic resistance, which made fighting dragons much easier. That's why I chose Alteration, which gave me 30%, instead of armour. I then topped that up with Lord Stone (25%, just up the mountains south east of Morthal), and Agent of Mara quest (15%, go to the temple of Mara in Riften), bringing my total to 70% with passive effects alone. Yeah, that's it. Adapt that to your playing style as you will.

I like the irony in some moron going "oh man these PC fanboys aren't going to answer your question, they'll just derail this thread", then said moron just derailing the thread all on his own with his blatant stupidity.

That's not the definition of ironic though, right? That's more like, hypocrisy, I guess.

I am laughing my ass off. Thanks. Anyway aint skyrim a typical bethesda game? How is it hard? Level up then and it will get easier.

You know, come to think of it. Why is everybody giving him so much attention? This is making us look worse than him.

Can't believe those Trolling 101 lessons went over my head.
