I always download from steam at least 1.1 MB/sec, it's not a problem with steam, it's either with your PC or your connection.

44,525,640 mb/s? Is that a typo? Anyways what kind of connection do you have? For instance, I have a 12mps and get usually around 1.5mb/s whenever I download games from steam

and there is your problem.

you would need to buy a heavy duty fiber optic government run super network to have speeds reach anywhere near the peak.

I mean people would drool if they could get a 10gb/s speed and thats still not even reaching that peak by a long shot. Point is no one can download at steams peak because the tpy of network connection required to do so doesnt exhist to be purchased. If it could though, that would be the peak steam could put out for it.

With your connection the fastest you will be able to download is a little less than 500/KB a second.

Looks like a TCP PSH error. A PSH flag set in a TCP packet causes data in the buffer to be pushed in to the rest of the system. You were getting the buffer to RAM speed not the server to client speed.

I bought the Uverse package, the home phone, internet, and cable pacakge. They give you a router and new cable boxes. There are a number of diferent internet service packages you can choose from them, their top out is at 6mb/s though. here is a link

No the peak is the max bandwidth Steam is able to put out - To everyone - All at once...

Your own connection determines your download speeds... And your connection is 3.73mbps... Which means the fastest download you can perform is 466KB/s (3.73 megabits per second divided by 8 bits per byte, or 466,000 bytes per second)...

Not just you. I've used AT&T DSL for YEARS... finally switched over to Cable Broadband.. AT&T's connection is slow to a crawl even on their top DSL Package. And you pay the same price as Cable, if not more. You get randomly disconnected from time to time, too.

My internet speed is 34-38 mb/s but I cap out at 1.3 mb/s for Steam downloads. Even then, I rarely get that download speed. It usually hangs around 700-800kbps. Some days it's worse, some days, it's better. Depends on the number of people downloading too, I guess?

I used to have AT&T, they are by far the WORST provider for any service. They claim their prices are low, but they were sneakily charging my house $50 a month for 1mbit/s speeds, which is a downlaod rate of about 35kb/s. Finally switched to cable, and check out the new speed....for $45 a month

and here's me downloading from steam

Must be something wrong on my end then... huh? I'm only getting 1.3 mb/s max. What could be the reason? Perhaps it's my location? I'm in southern California. My speed is 34-38 mb/s.

But look at his "download rate" during the video. The peak download rate seen is probably some sort of glitch or bug in Steam's part.

I go with Comcast. I mean I get the the cheapest service (12mbits/s) and still have great speeds. I get better speed then they even advertise for me :) . I've always drooled over fiber optics though. If anyone can get that do it.

why is this the 44,525,640 post about problems with steam on Gamespot forums when we can't do a thing to fix steam?
