What kind of question is that ?

Of course they are good for gaming. IMO they're better than square monitors because it mimicks the way the eyes are aligned, thus making viewing it much more comfortable because it extends the space you have to look at.

I recommend a 21" Samsung :P

Widescreen monitors are the best for games, starting at 20" and up.

19" just doesn't look as wide and spacious.

Without a Widescreen monitor, your not going to get "Boom Headshotted" as much as you do now with a 4:3 Ratio screen. :P

But what if the shot comes from above or below?

Don't widescreens compromise vertical expanse when they expand their horizontal expanse (IOW, though you can look left or right better, the same can't be said of up or down)?

That would depend on how the game is rendering. Most games don't do that, though. They don't stretch the vertical "off-screen" in an effort to match the monitor's horizontal. They simply expand the horizontal FOV.

If games just did the former, then yeah, getting a widescreen monitor would be pointless. But that isn't the case, thankfully.

Oh, and 24" widescreen LCD here. I'm never goin' back!

You have to choose the proper resolution. Square resolutions will look either blurry or stretched out on a widescreen.

I love gaming on a 20in widescreen, especially in new games where 16x10 is natively supported. It is kind of a pain in older games that don't support it natively though.

I have a 32" and a 19" widescreen monitors. Both look great and the 32" looks great when I play a rts game on it.

It deffinetly looks great with a 8800gt superclocked 512mb powering the games that I have.
