will an external blu ray drive work with my pc?

ok so i have a macbook pro from mid 2007. its got a 2.4 ghz core 2 duo 4 gigs of ram and an 8600 gt 256mb. i have windows xp sp2 installed with no updates besides what was on the sp2 disc. damn genuine windows wont let me update. so if i buy this

on top of power dvd 8 software(unless thers a better program)

will it work on my computer under xp and will there be any problems hooking it up to my samsung hdtv? i read a bunch of stuff about hdcp and other things. thanks
