The second one has a Nvedia Geforce 7025 graphics, the info is below. RobertWhite11
That is onboard graphics which is not a graphics card, it is a crappy low cost chip tacked onto the motherboard. A graphics card is something you plug into a slot and you can remove.
I'm looking for a semi-decent computer to play games on, primarily World of Warcraft, but I'd be nice to know how good they are. And do you think I could build one to these specs more cheaply, and if so by how much about?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Quad-Core-HD-Gaming-Computer-PC-1TB-4GB-DDR3-ATI-5450-/200597899366?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item2eb4910866#ht_3016wt_982

Thanks! EDIT: You may have to refresh the first links page to see all the details below.RobertWhite11
I do have an ATI Radeon Hd5450 graphics card at home I can use.RobertWhite11
That's a low end card, wow isn't very demanding, but it will struggle on ultra.
I used to play wow on a 4650 which is more powerful and I had to put all settings on medium at 1920x1080.
What resolution will you be playing on?
I have a 23 inch monitor (maybe 22) so whatever that is :SRobertWhite11
probably about 1920x1080
When it comes to games the most important thing is the graphics card, if that is low nothing will play well. And the cards you are talking about are basically the slowest things being produced this generation.
epicpctime here.. we about to change the game!

heres a solution which would work!

that PC (bid) is amazing for its tag 200 GBP for a 7950gt & q6600.. fing smart! 1.5tb hard drive space (3 drives in raid 0) haters your getting weak!
sell the gpu for like $35
get that gpu to replace it (not in that order)
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-xfx-hd5750-ddr5-single-slot-ip-5x-fan-dual-dvi-dp-eyefinity-pci-e-card
tada i just pwned your gaming experience.. expect to play it on ultra when not in raids and drop it to high when you raid 25-man's
you could also save up say 100 bucks more and slay it further by building one yourself!
WoW is mostly CPU bottlenecked, so if your just looking to run wow I'd say get something with a decent cpu and a 5770/460.
I probably couldn't afford that ^^RobertWhite11Didn't say you could, I'm telling you the specs required to run WoW on Ultra. I've been in your shoes with a worse PC than you. You have to play older games or newer ones with the settings turned way down to eek out a playable framerate.
[QUOTE="GummiRaccoon"]Ahh, I see, is it good CPU?The 2nd one has a better cpu
RobertWhite11
a cpu or central processing unit is like the brain of a computer and its often used as some sort of a curtain to hide the actual power & potential of a machine by pre-built companies. and its often used to make the pre-builts sound important..
atm only 3 companies make cpu's (for consumers anyway)
INTEL, AMD, and VIAO
famous cpu's or cpu families include:
core 2 duo/quad/extreme, pentium 4/d, celeron, core i7, athalon xp, phenom, turion, and atom
cpu's ad their preformance are jsut one piece of a computers ability to play games.. the others are the version of windows its running (vista, 7 , xp, etc.) the graphics card (argueably the most important part, and the most commonly mis-informed or lied about) and the memory which is the most unimportant on this list..
ow a good gaming machine achieves a balance of all of these things.. a current operating system, a heathly amount of ram and a powerful cpu and gpu.. those two you lsited have a good os, good amounts of ram, and both in their own way have good cpu's but both dont have a good gpu at all.. in fact one technically goesnt even ahve one (as you dont need a true graphics card to have a computer "work").

Thanks for the information. In the second computer I can install an ATI Radeon HD 5450 - which I know isn't amazing. My brother has a less powerful graphics card than this and managed to play WoW on Ultra in some areas and in most others 'Good'. What I may do is when I can afford it spend perhaps 80-100 pounds on a better GPU. Something that hasn't been answered yet in this question. Could this computer I have linked be built for a cheaper price, and if so by how much (estimate)?[QUOTE="ionusX"][QUOTE="RobertWhite11"] Ahh, I see, is it good CPU?RobertWhite11

best i could do on your budget would probably be an athalon II x3 rana tri-core cpu with 4gb ram 500gb hdd and like an hd 4670/5570
which .. while not he greatest is better than at least one of those systems by a considerbale sum..
ya know waht.. inf act ill take a stab at it.. BRB with a reply and a build list..

Tbh, the graphics cards mentioned above will give you around 30-40 FPS when you on your own on ultra, but if you're in crowded areas like citys/raiding, you'll easily drop down to >10. I use a GTX 460 and I still go down to 20 FPS on Ultra, even with Shadows on High rather than ultra whilst raiding..
None of those computers will sniff ultra that you mentioned, they'd be lucky to be decent on medium.

sub 1080p ahahah i lolled
on a similar system i was playing WoW amd getting 45fps + while raiding 25 mans on high fukll aa and af
and outside of raids even in towns i was hitting 40-60fps on maxed out settings no matter where i went (omitting outlands but outlands is bad anyway)
if your wondering those results were taken from ICC & ulduar at various points in time ..even during boss fights

Practically any computer will be lagged, but not because of the reasons you think, it only really lags because it has to download loads of animations and images from lots of people all over the world so to do this it has to wait(lag) until the image is downloaded and displayed. It has almost nothing to do with how powerful a machine is it is 95% down to the fact the game has to download information from across the globe and organise it all in the right order and then display it... Do not believe the people who will undoubtedly say "Oh every computer lags, WoW is badly optimized and unplayable!!". Its complete ass gravy... Dribble.
The game is extremely dependant on downloading information such as spells, stats, damage, animations, movements of others, their armour, weapons... SO if you got to download all this and display it IN REAL TIME then even the best computer has to wait for the data to be downloaded before it can display it. I ran wow at 1680x1050 on a 9600GT and a lot of the times i was getting 60fps but as soon as someone moved my computer then had to download his position and make sure none of his armour or weapons changed and that reduced my frame rate because the information wasn't downloaded yet so it had to wait.

If you're referring to my signature, I think you'll find I was pointing out that my Monitor is 1080p, not the resolution I play in. Also, the video was made in 2008 before Cataclysm. I don't think I need to proceed..I'd love to see you get the same now. I play WoW now, and that is the FPS I get I wasn't just pulling numbers out of my arse. Also, learn to type.

yes it is hmm.. well the card comes with one anyway :P
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ny3ZD8PBevw
XFX minted two variants of the card the difference is the fan itself thats it...
What do you mean by the card has one, and what is it that requires those connections? ^^RobertWhite11
okay the videocard comes with a bunch of converter cables.. basically one of them takes two IDE 4-pin power connecotrs and turns them into one 6-pin video card connector.. simply use it to get your missing 6-pin to pwoer your videocard
IDE power connecotrs used to be used on floppy drives and cd-drives.. both have either been killed off or replaced by dvd drives.

Is there a difference in performance if I just use the converter?Remember WoW can utilize DX11 now, and with a decent DX11 card say at least a 5770 or 460 typical FPS is 50% higher than in its DX9 API. Phenom IIs are a steal right now, build a budget system around a 955 with a decent DX11 card and you'll be satisfied.BygByron3This is probably helpful and one of the most recent GPU comparisons for WoW, they include DX9 and DX11 APIs for comparison too. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/world-of-warcraft-cataclysm-directx-11_5.html#sect0

Is there a difference in performance if I just use the converter?nope not really.. its jsut a bit more difficult to cable manage bt considering tis is your first build cable management shouldnt be a top priority..
