If i go from a p4 640 3.2Ghz 2Mb cache to a C2D e6300, i also have a 7900gt ko and i would also have to switch my ram from ddr1 pc3200 to ddr2 pc5400 just wanted to know if i would see a noticable difference in gaming and general desktop performance.

Let's see... Core µArchitecture > NetBurst µArchitecture Dual Core > Single Core On these factors alone, the C2D would be an improvement.

You will certainly notice a difference and will now be ready when games start to take advantage of the 2 cores. The first game has arrived a while ago... Supreme Commander. Maybe some other games already did, certainly some programs did...

Yeah i know to keep the cost a little bit lower im going with a msi P965 NEO which almost keeps up with the better mobo's just falls a little behind in memory performance and hard drive performance but not a big deal.

Also one more question is my currant 3.2 p4 Bottlenecking my 7900 gt ko?

That would be a bad choice. The Biostar 965P TF is just a few dollars more and works alot better than the MSI P965 Neo-F. Regarding your P4 bottlenecking the 7900GT, no... there shouldn't be a much of a bottleneck there.

Games loading faster is due to CPU - but it helps a lot if you have fast hard drives.
