It only uses less ram. If you have only 2gb? might as well get 2 more. Or atleast one more gb of it. Plus ur using an Intergrated gpu ( i think if i remember if its the 6100) So you could buy a new Gpu for like 80 bucks and things will be better.

Not really, with a modern PC Vista and Win7 are both quite superior to XP. If you were to get better performance, it would only be slightly and only in some games.

Get another 2 gigs or RAM and then update to Win7 64-bit and you'll not only have access to all 4 gigs, but you also have a very nice OS to play on.

semi decent cpu for this gen. go grab an extra 2gb ram and to keep it cheap a hd 4670 or 9600gt. take the PC with u to the computer store to make sure u don't buy the wrong thing (guessing u don't have a lot of PC expereince if ur bashing vista for being slow with THOSE specs...). btw if that s brand name pc (i am guessing COMPAQ!), go into control panel and unistall any HP and google software that came with the PC. Vista is not slow, but manufactures would fill it with bloatware. also there is no need for 20 different anit-spyware programs to be runnign at the same time. go get Kaspersky while ur at the Pc shop and uninstall any anti-spyware/virus programs (i sell PC's and to often i see computers that are "to slow!", but are just filled with bloatware)

yeah games will be faster in XP on your system ;). However, you really should get a dedicated video card with better performance. How much wattage does your power supply have?

You may get a few frames per second with a new install of XP as opposed to a new install of Vista but your hardware is way more limiting than anything else. Also, if you've had Vista installed for a while don't expect that junk software wont slow it down. It's also important to note that Windows 7 also gets better framerates than Vista. XP was good, but I wouldn't reccomend downgrading.

I noticed on about a 5-15fps drop on Vista 32 bit compared to XP Home. Windows 7 64 bit seems to run a few FPS better, and for several reasons. Firstly, it can use more than 2GB of RAM without question, and secondly XP was written in the late 90's, early 00's, and so perhaps isn't so optimal for today's tasks. It's also a very lean OS, and doesn't have any hard drive or processor thrashing in the background.

Windows vista needs at least 256 MB of GPU card and 512 MB GPU is OK for most low-end or medium-end games. High performance games such as assasins creed, fallout, and etc. needs more than that.

Yes, XP will run much better. My old setup was an Athlon X2 3800+, ATI 3850 AGP, and 2GB RAM and I would get random stuttering and low FPS on Vista. Although an extra 2GB might fix that, I don't think it would be worth it on an old system.
