Hi everyone :). I really would like to know whether the 5970 will fit in the NZXT Tempest case since the NZXT Tempest seems to be the largest midtower case on the market after the Storm Sniper. I know the 5970 will fit if I were to remove the top hard drive cage, but I'm curious to know whether it will fit with the top hard drive cage installed or not? The 5970 is 12 inches long by the way, so if any of you have the NZXT Tempest case could you answer my question please? thank you :)

Unfortunately that's all I could find; there's no link on NXZT's website regarding this.

I'm gonna go on a limb and say it'll fit. I saw a buddy who somehow fit a 5970 in an Antec 900 (moved a drive cage), and the NXZT has MUCH more GPU clearance versus the Antec 1200.

I didn't like the acoustics of that case though :?. Seemed noisy as h*** when a GPU fan revvs up.

EDIT: Pardon me. I meant the 1200, not the 900.

From what I understand, the 5970 barely fits in an Antec 1200, which is slightly smaller than the Tempest (which is odd because the Antec 1200 is a full tower case). However, the insides the of tempest seem to protrude farther than the Antec 1200, so it would probably make up for the couple inches in length. It'll be tight either way, but it'll probably fit. Here's a picture of the Antec 1200 with a 5970

The tempest has more room from the hard drive bays to the back of the case though :P

Sorry, no definite answer from me, but I did some analysis and it appears that the Tempest will fit a 5970. By measuring photographs of the case's interior, there is just about 13" of space from the expansion bays to the hard drive cages. Also, this review of the case (published just today, luckily enough) shows it with an HD 4850 X2 installed, which is 11.3" in length. There appears to be more than an inch of space between it and the hard drives, so I would conclude that a 5970 fits in the case.

Of course, it would be better if someone with hands-on experience can confirm this.

UltimateGamer95

I've seen measuring tape's for about $5 or less at a plethora of stores. If you've got the case already, $5 isn't going to burn a massive hole in your pocket.

Even if you haven't purchased the case yet, the above answers are probably as good as it gets. If you eyeball the GPU clearances on both the Antec 1200 and NZXT Tempest, you'll notice that the Tempest has quite a bit more clearance. In the worst case scenario, you'll have to remove a drive cage.

I'm sorry if the tone is bordering flaming, but if you want a guarantee that the 5970 will fit a case, buy one that's confirmed to fit the card. It's very hard to give a definite answer considering the card has been around for a very short period of time.

Lets see... A sheet of printer paper of 8x11 is 13.6 inches from corner to corner diagonal.

Hey you two this is not funny anymore . Obviously if I had the case I would measure it myself and I'm not that lazy. There just aren't any stores around me that have it! :x

I can't personally say I know if it can fit or not, but I think posting your question in this thread would get you a better chance of finding an answer: Link.

Well I was going for the Stcker 830 but they jacked the price up again so now I must choose between the NZXT Tempest and the Thermaltake Xaser 4

How about this casehttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133089

Talk about price LOL!

Anyways seriously I would actually recommend the HAF 922http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119197&cm_re=haf_922-_-11-119-197-_-Product

It should fit the 5970 and the Tempest should fit it to. Though I can't 100% confirm it seeing as I can't afford a 5970!
