Well, I just found a gaming PC on Best Buys website that looks pretty good. I was wondering whether if this computer was worth the money it cost (1249.99$)

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9081325&type=product&id=1218017465909

If you don't want to click the link here are the specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7 2.66GHz

Ram: DDR3 3 gigs (expandable to 16 gigs?)

Hard drive:SATA II (7200 rpm) 750 gigs

Graphic Card: Ati Radeon HD 4850 (512mb memory)

More info is in the link

Its hard to tell if they are using quality parts like MB,psu, ram, heatsink . The little search i did i came up with nothing on this gateway. You will always be better of building your own and using quality parts.

way overpriced if it on bestbuy you can get it for 50% cheaper at ncix.com & tigerdirect.com & newegg.com
for that money in newegg.com you get Core i7 920 : X58 MSI Eclipse or P6t deluxe of Asus + 3x2GB 1600mhz + 4850x2 or 4870x2 or incoming 295GTX in 5 day
750 wats psu + a Cooler master 690 + vista 64 Bits + 500GB hard drive + Thermalright 120 extreme with Scythe Kaze For a total sum of 1350$ & +150$ for 4870x2
or +200$ then 1350$ For 295GTX And that machine would be strong as you desire far stronger then 4850 & build quality a pc that would have a case in airflow design to durate to you for more then 5 year with the cpu heatsink before you even think of gettting a new tower unless you start to be into building double water loop water cooling ;) then u may need a full tower lol

(much better airflow then the standart ATX P4 With Inferrior Quality airflow Design from all pc build manifacutrer they alway do there own case and does it wrong way

I'd rather not build my own gaming pc, but the pre-built ones on those sites look really nice.

Are there any places like Circuit City that can give me a good deal? Or I have to buy online for a good deal

the look is nothing if you desire look you sacrefice performances wise speaking. you can get a NXZT Case But they lack of best airflow for cool ur part example all pre-build are mostly 3 fan 120mm design most of the best airflow case for same moeny are 5 to 7 fan 120mm possible to stack + leds if look that importnat to sacrefice the performances of having the most cold part in a pc il show you buid tell me ur max budget ? 1250$ ? 1300$?

in north america you can't beat making ur off for both design & Quality & power if you think those on bestbuy look someting you are going into the wall ;)
daytona my mate did maybe sacrefice some airflow at max power but did a nice looking case just with stock thing if you look here
http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26734617&tag=topics;title
there is how ever no current pre-build pc case on bestbuy / circuit city / dell / hp / acer / toshiba / emachine / that does as a better airflow case then those you buy of high quality at newegg.com or frozencpu.com Even the BlackBird 02 Case As Being proven to lack in quality Behind Cooler master 690 & Antec 1200 for airflow
but the design look cool here how look the picture of the pc of daytona on gamespot

pretty nice looking aint it for a NZXT ? unmodded but it does lack of airflow possiblity compare to cooler master 690 once you put all is fan inside i haven't my self do it lol put all the fan where they can be put :D but i'm thinking off soon to buy and replace the stock fan of cooler master 690 for premium high qualtiy fan
& maybe add the panel then do a leds jobs like inside this case but first I tune up my pc with the new incoming soundcard & another 2GB then il look int overclocking and the temperature then il go for add fans & LEDS for design

some of the things you should consider:

1) do you plan on doing any overclocking? (most likely gateway will have a crappy motherboard that prevents you from modifying much of the bios)

2) is the case customizable (can you easily upgrade parts including the motherboard in the future)

3) your general knowledge on computer assembly (if it's not so great, I say the deal isn't bad)

4) the quality of the brand. I personally dislike the gateway brand since I bought a poor quality laptop from them in the past. I do give them credits for their customer services/warranty policies. Too bad it doesn't help the fact the quality of their product is crap.

P.S. Just a piece of advice, you could save alot of money if you build your own rig with the same specs. but if you don't really care, the price is acceptable.

All Pre-build pc lock overclcok to be honest and failure into gateway looking pc case The CAse of Gatewa yIsn't full ciozmizel as an Cooler master 690 & NZXT apollo Or Antec 900 / 1200 / Thermaltake armor I does Know lot about pc even tough i'm new into the venture of case iv learn lot IF you doesn't know how to build one there are store from everwher ein usa who will humbly do the build there self but it can be done really easy at home you read the manuel & look Guide and it done it never being that easy Within the LGA 775 / 939 / 940 / LGA 1336 to put a cpu on the clip it go like a magic Trick then you put the thermalpaste on it a thin layer then you get +9 Degree Cooler then any Pre-build pc on futureshop / bestbuy there never put thermalpaste such as Artic Silver 5 It a big ERror For them to forget to apply some there are Several Proof of CPU With thermalpaste to increase is Stock / And Overclock tempearture ae tidle / full by 9 degree Celcius 9 dEGREE ? JUST FROM PASTE ? isn't that insane ? how 99% PURE SILVER does that ? If i was physician maybe i could explain in every detial but it does lol

from 1300$-1500 you got :
For the cpu Core i7 920 295$ : From newegg.com
For the motherboardX58 MSI eclipse or Asus P6T Deluxe You choise 250-300$
For Ram We got DDR3 3x1GB 1333mhz 130$ OCZ GOLd or platinum to 3x2GB 1600mhz at 220$ G-skill
For The video card 4850x2 :320$ AFTER MIR : or 4870x2 : 489$ AFTER MIR But It gonna be wiped by The NVIDIA aggresive release of 295GTX at 499$
For the power supply unit - PSU 700-750wats from as low as 80$ to 120$
For The Chassis Know as Case : Cm 690 as low as 65$ (Defeat Antec 900 as stock fan) And Defeat Antec 900 in maximum airflow possiblity does of 7 fan possition And Design but not by much mean while it match ANTEC 1200 Cause it As full tower & more fan vs Super medium ATX tower (Cooler master 690) But more expenisve by about 60$

For the Cpu cooler (Extremely Essential to overclock):
thermalright 120 extreme as shown picture previously posted on daytona It look exatly like it can be how ever black Verison if in on sales
The only addition of Black Version is a extra fan clip & that it black so you can add push/pull fan action = increased airflow then regular who as one clip

Then you put a window OS 64 bits & a hard Drive And you'r pc is builded once you put part together
Within all those part we got to near as 1300-1500$ and Defeating the pc Sold on bestbuy.com By +200% Does of video card & the case
So You decide ur budget : We Can Strech it up i'm in for advice to reduce is money for best for buck tough ;) it is build after all lol

if you too anxious to put Lego piece together like you where when you was a child then ask some guy to do it at some custom pc shop
i found out that build my Lego Transformer 10 year ago With the manuel harder then build the pc :D store example in ottawa in my city there is OEMExpress / Sprintcomptuer / Pc-Cyber / And Over 20+ shop who does it BUILD PC FOR YOU for 20-50$ In usa it the same and for every nation there are place that do it
some place that fix pc even does that option

and in uk pound and overpriced for the assemble build we could just call them dell.corporation dominion DCM
500 pound ? FOR a E2180 + GEFORCE 8400GS = 7600GS ! + Hard drive 160GB?! + COrSAIR 800mhz 2GB ? Hell that a rip off

Btw Fireandice? do you intend to pay how much or what part you desire into ur pc ? I can help you to build it on newegg.com
You better ask for help it won't hurt you i can double check all ur thing anytime

Looks ok I guess. Tho im not a fan of buying a pre-built mass produced system. Might be the perfect time to research and build one yourself and gain some system building know-how and save a ton of money on your car insurance.. errr i mean.. well you know what i mean!
