Ok so next year when I have like $600 to spend I'm going to build a gaming computer. the think is I need this thing to last me 2-3 years cuz my dad got mad at me for wanting to get a new computer just as we finished building my new one (I didn't really kno better and I got kind of out dated stuff, or hardware thats not ready for the futer of gaming). So I need your opinion on the system I'm going to build, ok here it is:

Gigabye:nForce 570 SLi,AM2,ATX,2pic-e, 3Gb/s SATA, DDR2 800 (pc 6400)

AMD athlon 64x2 4800+ brisbane 2.5GHz AM2

EVGA:8800GTS 320MB GDDR3 320-bit 96 unifide pipe lines, Im going to get an other GTS when games start to get reallyintence and graphicaly demanding and put then in SLi mode. then eventualy get 9 serise card or 10 (thats when GFX cards become 64 bit)

WINTEC AMPO:2GB(2-1GB sticks)DDR2 800 (pc6400)

HIPRO:700Watt PSU

Artic cool: freezer pro64 92mm, 40CFM, 900-2200RPM

western digital:7200RPM 250GB, 16MB chache

it will last you as long as you want it too as long as you like the performance it gives you you could go 3-4 years without upgrading if you wanted to no matter what settings you get in the future you'll always have better performance than any consoles out there so its just a matter of do you want the latest new stuff if not then it will last you this whole generation

yea if your going to be like web browsing it will last a very long time, but for gaming it is just to unpredictable because a card 3 years ago would probably get smocked on most games. if your planning to playthe latest games each year maxed out i reckon it would last you about 2 years max.

It will last you a good 2-3 years like predicted. I'd say you go with a Intel CPU if you want it not to be out dated as quickly

Get a Core 2 Duo processor, they're much better than AMD at the moment.

where did you heard AMD are "gaming processors"? does that mean they are only good for gaming?

Also you can get E2160 or E4300 C2D if you wan't budget CPU.

It depends on how picky you are about graphics and framerates. It would last me 2-3 years because I just want the game to run faster then 30 fps. I don't care how it looks. You might want it to look great AND run smooth, therefore it would not last you as long.
