that is cutting it pretty close, even with a top end PSU.

If its a high quality PSU, sure. Which one are you looking at? Also WHY would you get SLI 9800 GTX and an AMD X2?

ohhhh, why an am2 6000. What do you suggest? I am not so much into overclocking if I can buy parts that are sufficient for a good price. Its my opinion that a dual core will work with everything out there for the next couple years and its alot cheaper. Can always upgrade later when the price on the quads come down.

What??? That makes no sense.

Here is a better PSU:

I would highly recommend getting an intel CPU. You can get a E7200 for the same price as that 6000+ and its much better.

why do you feel that intel is better? Sincere. Im thinking about the actual clock speed. If an amd 6000 dual core is 3ghz, isnt that better than a dual core at 2.5ghz since most aps and games dont even use anything more than dual? Whats a good bus bottleneck for a motherboard in your opinion? curious about your ideas here.

Clock speed is only relevant between CPUs of the same family. You can't directly compare an X2 to a Core 2 Duo, or even a 65nm C2D to a 45nm C2D. Otherwise we would all have 3.6GHz Pentium Ds for like $60.

Ok, I see where you are going, but I am wondering if the dual sli 9800 gtx will improve that. Also, do you think it would be worth it to buy a physx card. My intent is to use my pc as a media center pc and dvr for my xbr 46 inch flat screen. I am building on a budget.

well thank you for your help.

Metro SL is dead as are the 80's. Moutnain biking is as good for you as the price of gas is high. Turns out that there is a food shortage going on in the usa. As much as I love technology I also enjoy a good book and physical excercise. I love a tuna fish sandwhich for energy and muscle health, but all things in moderation. I apply the same kind of efficient minimalist analytical thought to pc design as I do life. In short......less is better.
