I am sure this arguable but I am going to say 64-bit. At the very least, you will be able address more than 4GB of memory (when you get more than that).

I use XP 32 bit and its more than fine, although i own Vista 32 and 64 and Win 732 and 64 bit,

none of them ran away from XP, they all trade wins and losses depending on the game

The 64 bit OS will give you the benefit of access to more RAM, faster apps (64 bit versus 32 bit), and it also runs 32 bit apps perfectly. While most games are 32 bit, the first 2 reasons are enough IMO to use Windows 7 64 bit.

the 64-bit version is FAR superior greater memory is allowed for and it is also more secure.. to date windows 7-32 bit has several rootkits.. as of octobter the 64-bit variant has only 1 and its not very potent at all.. in fact its rather generic and mostly painless.

more security + more ram = you win!

i bought into the marketing facts too, yeah you utilize more RAM, ditto you utilize multi core CPU's, sure x64 is more secure,

and then you realize unless you have some video intensive graphics stuff going on, you are basically running ms word with OC'd RAM, CPU and GPU,

very unfullfilling.

As i said i owned em and uninstalled em, Crysis max @ 4x anti-alias runs wonderful on XP 32

You don't run Crysis maxed in 32-bit since you are only running in DX9 mode. You cannot run DX10 in a 32-bit OS.

so if i understand you vista 32 and windows 7 32 are not dx 10, 10.1 and 11 capable.

Gahh, I meant to say WinXP instead of 32-bit OS. I just keep associating the two together :( My mistake.

32bit OS will not recognize more then 3 gig of ram. If you want to waste your other gig then use 32bit. It you want full access to all your memory then use 64bit. Simple as that.

I was just being overly picky and idiotic, i knew what u meant,

dont underestimate DX 9 or XP chese_man2, try playin RE5, AVP in DX 9 and then in DX 10 if you can with a Multi Boot system, and tell me if you see a huge difference, whether in FPS or visual quality, as far as DX 10 is concerned,

I know you know most of these games are console ports.

64 Bit Windows OS is the way to go with PC games these days. Also this thread should be in the PC Hardware Discussion forum (software other than games allowed)
