Me too, but you know what? I ended up turning defender (and UAC also) off. I like Vista much better that way....we'll see ;)

I have windows vista ultimate x64 and was wondeirng is windows defender active? as in it automatically detects spyware without you having to do a scan? If it isnt automatic im geting something better.MondoCool

Yes it is automatic. It is also one of the best spyware detector and remover tool out there.

I'm not too big of a fan of vista but thats good news. I really hate how svc host is using 20% of my qx6700 and it is always idling about 30-70% and starts locking up every other second, I much rather have windows xp x64 I need the 4 gigs of ram though, so  a lil pain for the 4 gigs of ram. Right now my cpu is 80% folding @ home 25% opera 14%, task mgr 14%, fraps 13% (idle) explore 7% lcd mon (g15) 7%, realplayer (4%) and  this is on a qx6700 why oh why...MondoCool

You don't need vista to use Windows Defender. I'm running it on XP.

It is automatic. But it also recommands you to scan it maually regularly. Anyway, you have Ultimate. Use PC backup. This is one of the most important Ultimate feature for me, don't waste it. It is like 50~70 bucks if you buy it elsewhere, and this is build-in in Ultimate.

So basically I can copy everything on my computer neat... I'm going to need a bigger external harddrive, Oh wait I have 2 of em X-D good feature I wonder if this also carries the activation...
