I just bought a new Samsung 500GB HDD and installed it. The BIOS detects the drive, as does the Windows Device Manager, it even says the drivers are up to date. The problem is I can't access it at all, I can only view details about from the device manager. I can't even SEE it in my Computer, all it lists is my old drive. What do I have to do to start using this drive?

Give it a drive letter using device manager, if you haven't already, and like others have stated, format.
