You guys still won't admit that Windows XP is the best OS that Microsoft will ever release.

I recommend Windows XP. It is compatible with everything.

DanielDust

Nope, that OS is trash, even after 3 SPs. No other Windows was as unstable as this one, it also ran slower with every patch and it was extremely vulnerable to viruses, let it go, it is/was, trash, you're not convincing anyone except XP fans, guys that have no idea how Vista/7 is because they heard from guys like you that XP is better and those sucks, guys that had some problems adjusting to the new OSs or guys that are just too rednecks for Vista/7.

I agree with the "vulnerable to viruses" part; that was true, but everything else you say is completely and utterly false.

Trash? I will tell you what is trash. Vista was truly trash. 7 is a little better, but is still outmatched by XP.

At this point, there is no sense in getting Vista. I am using Vista on my gaming machine and it works great. However, just wait till Windows 7 comes out. chandu83

The best and most correct advice in this thread so far.....If your on XP now it really doesn't make sense to change over to Vista. Wait till Windows 7 is released and then move on. Win 7 is the fully fleshed out version of what Vista was to be.Vista is now a fine OS as compared to when first released several years ago. After SP 1 & 2 it runs amazingly well and for those that keep saying stick with XP...well, that was the same as when people were saying they wanted to stay with Win 98 instead of moving on to XP, which has had as many problems as Vista did in the beginning.

All of this is fine and dandy but how about backwards compatibility? What about those that have enormous collections of 80s/90s classics that didn't work right on Vista? Will XP still be the preferred OS for fans of old games?

I thought XP was extremely slow and sluggish, Vista was way faster, especially when starting up.

My OS is XP service pack 3 and it's getting a little old so i need a new OS but which one should i buy? 7 or vistaredoverking
7 7 7 77 7 7 I have 7, it's a lot better on crappy hardware. As in, virtualized in a virtualbox with 768 megs of ram, Vista was crazy slow and it actually bsod'd. Windows 7 build 7100, runs flawlessy, it never crashes, it runs about as fast as XP with limited hardware. Though the gap between 7 and Vista is pretty much the same if you have a kickass system.

Obvious pirate is a obvious. The real Windows 7 is done, they confirmed it, it's build 7600 and it's on torrents and usenet. But, I'm just going to wait my three weeks and get it from technet/msdn subscription.

you dont need to say the P word, but yeah, the RTM is great, im going to get win 7 ultimate the day its available from OEM, since i only get 120 days with the RTM by using slmgr to extend the 30 day unactivated ( its 100% legit to do this btw)

lmao

you worried about wearing out your xp copy?

I am no expert but I am pretty sure if your xp is getting "old" your reinstall

I have no idea why you want to even consider vista?

It's quite funny how no one seems to remember the state 95,98,xp and not to mention vista was in when they were released - a little advice about PCs and windows, if it ain't broke don't fix it
