Okay, this question has been asked countless times, but I'm late to the PC scene. If Windows Vista is supposed to be games-friendly, why is it not? It has so many problems with so many games, in regards to crashing, graphical and audio issues, etc. Starcraft can't even work on it.

It's mostly hardware and driver problems right now. Not everything was built for Vista, so the bugs are still being ironed out.

If your hardware is new and supports Vista you should be fine. However Xp is still better because it takes up less ram. If you plan to upgrade to Vista i'd say stick with XP. If you're going to buy a brand new computer that is new components with Vista and plenty of ram (1-2GB) fast processor video card then get Vista.

Only one game (as far as I've noticed) runs slower on Vista than XP (Civ IV), but no game that runs on XP runs better on Vista... but I did manage to get one old game to work on Vista that even after countless of tries I never got working on XP (Theme Hospital)

Have you guys tried Battlefield 1942 or any Ubisoft games? 1942 has menu problems and no crosshairs for most guns. Ubisoft games like Brothers in Arms and Blazing Angels cannot be started.

My experience has been fine so far except with C&C Generals... I had very little success running Red Alert 2 on windows XP back when that came out, so I guess there is a trend here...
