Hey people, just got a quick question. I have been having some trouble with accessing some forums on this site. This one in perticular. It seems to have dissapeared in the last half hour and i can't access it anymore ! Weird huh? I'm running an Acer Aspire 5738G and was wondering if it's a known issue with my laptop. It may please you to know i am running firefox currently but i'm having equal bother accessing in either IE or Safari.
I'm not sure if this is related to the topic at hand but it might be - you guys can't help if you don't have all the knowledge right? Recently on the forum posts were being deleted & users given ever increasing ban lengths for trivial matters. I fear it may have been down to some rouge gamespot administrators/moderators. However i simply cannot be 100% sure. I fear that not only will our lack of community forum impact our social activities, it may infact also unleash a lot of ill feeling against GS, it's moderators and staff. I cannot hide my displeasure at the measures that GS have decided to unleash upon our quite quiet (and until recently) undisruptive corner of the internet. I do hope however this has been a misunderstanding and it is a simple issue relating to my laptop and the smooth running of Gamespots wonderful website.
We did recieve a very polite message about this. Which i have provided below.
Dear GameSpot members at of the Online Multiplayer Gaming union.
On June 28, the leader and officers of this union were notified by GameSpot staff about complying with the Terms of Use agreement. This notice in the union clearly displayed an admin icon in the post, which means staff addressed the concern and not a volunteer moderator.
One of your union officers decided to create a thread today disputing this matter, so the union is now removed from the site as explained in the original thread, which we have shared below for your reference.
If you are uncertain what caused the union to be removed from the site, we have also shared this petition against what staff addressed last month. Customer support is staff, so this kind of dispute was null. However, the main concern here was that a union officer took such course of action trying to rally harassment once again against staff and volunteer moderators. The person who created this post has been granted a moderation and the remainder union leader and officers will not receive a moderation for this. Unfortunately, it does mean that the union is now gone and the decision is final. All disputes regarding this will be overlooked by staff because the circumstance the consequences were already explained about what kind of action staff would take when the warning notice was disputed.
Here is the fuel that caused the nuke of the union.

I'm putting together a letter for Gamespot's customer support detailing the fiasco of the recent moderation, and complaining in the strongest possible terms about the current situation and how we're resolving it. The only way this can be done properly is to have the details, otherwise it just sounds like I'm whining - Please can you send me a PM detailing any moderation(s!) you feel have been unfair, the circumstances behind them, screenshots of the moderated post etc etc...
I'd like as much info as possible to feed back to the Customer support team and I need your help to do it.
This post is 100% compliant with the Gamespot ToU.

After further investigation, this union is no longer being used for it's primary purpose regarding online multiplayer gaming. I have seen enough abuse in this union for you to consider the following notice or the union will be removed from the site.
Note to leaders/officers: You are all held responsible for the discussions that happen in this union. I hold you responsible for any behavior and not the unions members. If you cannot lead by example while complying with the rules the union will be removed. Therefore, the officers and leader of this union are the ones I'll be heavily monitoring for allowing abusive threads, which means if there is conduct in this union, you will receive a much more severe moderation than a member.
If I continue to see abusive behavior, the union is easy to nuke as it only takes me one minute and everything is gone. I have not nuked this union because you took over a while to establish this union and it's membership. I am giving you all the opportunity to no longer use this union for abuse.
Stay on topic with what the union is about and comply with the ToU rules and advice given to you by our volunteers, which are trained by staff to uphold the terms and conditions. Moderators do NOT make the rules, they carry out staff orders or they're dismiss from tneir volunteer duties.
Cease with mod/admin bashing and complaints in this union immediately. The ask the mods forum is for moderation disputes and you also can contact Customer Support to create disputes against individual moderators or GameSpot staff. Note that while the customer support queue is currently overloaded with a technical problem mentioned in the latest community news blog, all disputes are considered.
Thanks for your cooperation in this matter.
Proof, if ever was needed that tactical Nuking is bad. Thank you for your time, i suspect this message wont last long - so please. Spread the word.
