I played wow for about 6 months. I quit after I saw everything I wanted to see. I don't understand how people can be so obsessed with this game. Yeah, it's fun, but it's just a game.brianpoetzelI had nearlly the same experience. Played for around 9 months (about the time it took me to get to lvl 60). Did all the 5 man dungeons, ran ZG a couple of times as well as MC. At that point I realized I did not enjoy the 40 man raids and decided to stop playing. Yup...just like that. The game is really fun, but in the end I was not willing to invest 3-4 hours playing a game in one sitting. If they had more content that you could do in an hour burst, I prob would still play to this day. Anyways, I don't see what all this "addiction" fuss is all about. It's just a freaking game you spineless wimps.

Same here, my guild and me were doing almost every night runs of ZG/MC and 1 day I suddenly realized, what am I getting out of this. When I quickly figured out nothing, I stopped playing.
*raises hand* yet another among the WoW Junkies.
On a related note i read an article a couple months ago that says in some cases an actual physical addiction (not just the "mental" one) can happen. It was something about the sense of accomplishment you get from beating a game, or at least a difficult part of one, causes the release of chemicals into your blood and nervous system. and just like with any "drug" be it natural or man made the more you get the more your body wants/needs to get the same effect. And again like all drugs you can go through physical withdraw from it. Supposedly the effects are much stronger in MMO players than "normal" games simply because of the fact that MMO's dont end so they are a constant source.
Can't remember where i read the article but I will try to find it later... *flees back to WoW*
Nobody ever talks about the EQ2 addicts or City of Heroes, or (insert MMO name here) . WoW only gets so much grief and attention because it is extremely popular. But make no mistake, the EQ2 addicts are addicts all the same. venomblack

It's an extremely addictive game. I quit for a month once. But i came back.... In the end ..they all come back..no one escapes blizzard.rik666
True Dat, I have 2 60's and a 63 in WoW and I would say that it's a very addicting game and it's starts getting really bad when you choose it over real life things, which I think happens do most people who is doing end game raiding and some who just start. (It happend to about 6 of my friend I know that play WoW)
Dont take this wrong wow is an ok game but why play it all the time you play and finish tasks but what do you get out off it you pay like 20 pounds a month for the game and waste you life get out an enjoy you selfs dont play all the time change the game so people dont call you Addicted.
In spite of what some say about the addiction factor anyone who's fought a chemical addiction knows there is no real comparison..WOW is more of a mental obsession.than a real hard core addiction..ttomm1946
all addictions are mental if you ask me. i use to smoke, for about 10 years. i tried many times to quit, but failed. once i started paying attention to things that triggered my need to have a cigarette it was much easier to quit. if addiction was all chemical based, then why can't people that smoke just use the patch and quit just like that. simple, it's not the same as smoking a cigarette. i currently know personally 3 people that are addicted to WoW, after many times i've defended wow against this "it's not addictive crap" i now realize that people really do get addicted to it just like cigarettes or anything else that people get addicted to. my girlfriend is addicted to it, she couldn't play for the past 3 days because we didn't have the money to pay the subscription and she literally started crying because of it, it's absolutely rediculous. i watched it break up a friend of mines relationship because his girlfriend didn't wanna do anything anymore except play WoW til 3 in the morning every night. so for those of you who say wow is not addictive, you are addicted and have blinders on. if you really step back a minute and ask yourself how many times you've passed up doing something in real life in order to go do a raid or whatever else in wow, i think it will help open up your eyes.
