I haven't really had any regrets except for Oblivion. So I guess I'll have to say that's the worst game I paid for.GodLovesDeadMe too. I paid fifty bucks for a game that was buggy, optimized terribly, and was a terrible RPG. I still enjoyed the game overall, but compared to my other purchases this was disappointing.
Between Oblvion, Bioshock, Divine Divinity, and Neverwinter Nights I choose......
Oblivion.
At least the other games listed didn't require 30 hours of play before the skidmarks started to show on the fabric. Some people might chalk that up as a feather in Oblivion's cap, but I was suitably pissed that I'd convince myself to keep playing so that I could experience more content, always thinking that in the game's massive breadth something was bound to be interesting. By 30 hours spread over 2 characters I felt i'd seen it all, and every aspect and skill i'd explored and utilized, every dungeon type seen, and every guild dipped into was just another hollow experience to be tossed aside and forgotten. I ended up so uninterested in the game-world that I uninstalled and pawned my copy. I'd willingly played that long, like some brainless chippy that keeps going back to her abusive boyfriend for another black eye.
Oblivion's NPC's actually became repellant to me, with their soft blunted faces, dead eyes, and dopey smiles. Cyrodiil's the capital of the Empire and it seems as if its entirely populated with idiots. Hve you listened to these people talk to each other? The witless way they beam at you in the worst of circumstances? All NPC's are just fragments of code and polygon - but the hand of the designer gives them some semblance of style and life. Style and life were two things Oblivion completely lacked. The design decisions on display had an aggressive stupidity to them. And that impression became exponentially magnified over my 30 hour fair shake.

This is the best negative review I've read for Oblivion. Ohhh, I can feel your pain.
And I thought Oblivion was a good game. I stand corrected... "Oblivion's NPC's actually became repellant to me, with their soft blunted faces, dead eyes, and dopey smiles." Perfect.
Far Cry, Orange box and Enemy Territory are 3 purchases I wish i never made.
Deihmos
tha orange box!? you cant be serious? you didnt like portal even?
I think Cysis sucked. I actually went ou and spent 50 bucks ona a game that dosnt even play on my compter. My compuer met minimum requirements, but it was so slow... it just wasnt worth it. Pissed me off realllll good.ta11on
so tha tfact that ur not willing to compromise settings for gameplay makes it a bad game?
I own Big Rigs, but I was given it, so I didn't pay for it.
Therefore, I'll have to say Daikatana. Yes, I know.... I own Daikatana.
1carus
Good god....i played the demo of it and that was bad enough!
I remember how they didn't actually have any cutscenes it was just a text box telling you what happened:
"You were in the back of a truck and the truck hit a bump in the road and you fell out."
worst game...hmm probably "Beyond Peal Harbor"
Terrible flying game, although I remember some cool elements such as sinking destroyers. But overall the game wasn't great.
*edit* great now it's a free download :( link

I put all settings on low, tried to upgrade the driver on my graphics card(but no updates), and lowered the graphic settings on my desktop so that I can play descently even without good graphics. I tried, I spent a few hours, trying to get it to work, I didnt want to see 50 bucks go to waste.
Temple of Elemental Evil.
It's not so much the fact that it was a horrible game, it's the fact that it could've been so much better. Total letdown, considering the same people made Arcanum.
fenixfunk
Exactly. It wasn't a waste of $50 because it sucked (which it kinda did, but the fact that it almost pulled off what it was trying to accomplish alleviated that a little), but because it failed to utilize the awesomeness that was what could have been.
Man, you people lead charmed lives, or you have only been buying PC games for two years. Most of the games people list are mostly overrated or buggy but not really bad. Some are even downright awesome.Srinivassa
That's what I was thinking. Half of these people don't have the first idea what a downright bad game really is, given their choices.

Haha. It's not that bad. I seem to recall, yes that happend, but there were real cinematics too. They just weren't very good...
I hate to say it, but probably guild wars. I payed full price and I didn't get what I thought I would. I spent a good 4-6 hours trying to get into it, but it just didn't satisfy me, I thought RP was boring, and PvP just didn't have it. Probably everyone disagrees with me :PGiveMeIce
Actually I bought the 30 hour free trial or w/e for $2 and thought Guild Wars was really boring and poorly done.
I suppose my worst game I've boughten in recent memory is dark messiah, I loved the game at first but it constantly crashed on me with other problems to the point I couldnt play it no more, I just recently got my new video card and it doesnt crash no more the game feels dull to me now, the combat is great, but the single player campaign is dull.
Actually now that I think of it, worst game I've ever bougthen for my pc (been only pc gaming for bout 1-2 years) was pirates, I bought it because of the great reviews but it was boring and just not that fun. Halo pc is also somewhere up there, great as an xbox shooter back in the day, but when you buy it years later to see whats the hype after playing games like half life 2, well I don't have to say much more...
[QUOTE="jfsebastianII"]all the ones i talked about in the other thread i paid something for - never heard of Big Rigs though - i almost feel like seeking it out just so i don't feel left out!
i picked up 'Breed' in a charity shop for £3, but couldn't even get it to worrk - looked it up on the net afterwards and found it wasn't even worth playing, so i threw it out
reghole
I wish I could throw out my copy of Breed, but I paid full price for it. I feel Breed owes me about $30 worth of SOMETHING. I occasionally shake my finger angrily at the box and this gives me some satisfaction...
You weren't the only one to make that mistake. At what point in the game development did it seem like a good idea to make aliens snipers alway score headshots (that kill you instantly) and line about 50 of them on ridge out of your viewing distance on the first level.
I haven't bought a bad game for a few years now, I have learnt the lesson of getting the demo first :)
However, I did pay full price for Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness.
It was £20 and considering I had enjoyed all the Tomb Raider games up till that point how could I not enjoy this new one? How wrong was I! The game was slow, glitchy, frustrating, bad controls, poor graphics and terrible storyline, all the things you could want from a game series you've played for years.
You can pick it up now for as little as £1.99. I sure hope someone got fired for it.
Hello Kitty: Roller Rescue
I paid about £30 for that piece of junk!:x

What, this is a bad game? This was on my list of kitten games to own:
Hello Kitty
Kitty Luv
Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties
Pets: kittens
etc...
Ok, so you helped me narrow down the list by one...

Yeah, it was really bad. So was the Garfield game for the DS, (but that one wasn't as bad). Just buy two hyperactive kittens and give up on the kitten games hehe. You will also have impressive battlescars from little kitten claws.
alien vs predator, it was recent purchase, thank god for DX9 and above !!!!hongkingkong
Aliens vs Predator was great for its time, but I would say Breed was the worst and I still have it sitting on my shelf in the box, but I do have numerous dissappoints like Bioshock was dissappointing, due to the fact that the hyped RPG elements where not there and you could pretty much beat the game with the wrench and not level any of the plasmids or anything all though the graphics where sharp it just lacked depth

Real life kittens? That's kind of scary...vurtual world...safe...comforting.....
Actually, I've two cat compatriots. One being the "it's 3AM! time to run around the house and Meeeooow at the top of my lungs!" hyperactive type. Lovely...
So, how about the other cat games?

Did you not read reviews that said you need massive hardware to run the game well? Minimum specs really just mean "it'll load without dying or yelling at you" - they are NOT indicitive of being able to play the game "well".
