Weird. I've been playing the marine campaign with all the settings maxed out and it hasn't happened for me yet.

dakan45

Was that only in DX10? I played the whole game in DX9 and it worked fine....

Nope i was playing in dx9 too.

Must be something to do with your PC.

I played it my 8800GTX (so DirectX9 or 10?) with all settings maxed and never had an issue.... ran perfect.

I never had a problem running GTA4, the only thing is that ground textures flicker occasionally, turning the road into one big smooth grey texture. Only see it for a second but it happens fairly often, mainly when on foot. Splinter Cell Double Agent stuffed up my laptop's dvd drive for some reason, must have been the DRM. So I never bothered installing it on my desktop PC when I got it. Luckily I got the game cheap. Assassin's Creed 1 had a crappy menu system. Assassin's Creed 2 improved on that but they messed up the controls. Well, the controls are fine, it's just that when they tell you what button to press to perform an action, they show a little symbol that represents the action and not the actual key you have to press. It's the stupidest thing I've ever seen and is quite frustrating to have to go into the controls menu each time to see what key the symbol corresponds to.

either GTA IV or Farcry 2 both were badly optimized and had a lot of bugs and crashes.

I TOTALLY agree with you on AC2, the controls are so stupid (symbols) that I stopped playing.

I've always wondered how the hell DRM can stuff up a DVD Drive...

I have no idea if it was the DRM that screwed up mine, but I've heard of it happening. I really don't know how it could either.

yeah gta IV on launch was pretty damn bad. Right now i think it runs great and now its plenty playable. I'll probably hand worse port to Star Wars:Force Unleashed. Didn't they only take up 20 gigs of space just because they had some files in different languages or something? I don't remember distinctly what it is but i do remember it being very lazy and unreasonable.

It ran on medium 20-25fps sometimes when there is a lot of shooting it even drops into 5 to 10fps on my GTS250 1GB.

RE4 or MGS2. Both games were probably good on console, but the controls were bad for PC and the graphics could have been better. I enjoyed MSG2 to an extent, but I could barely get through an hour's play with RE4.

Dead Space

Saint's Row 2

GTAIV

Bioshock

I found with bioshock is was really hard to navigate through your god damn weapons.

Those are some crappy ports to PC.

Share the crappy port games you have play!

There is NO QUESTION about it...

Splinter Cell: Double Agent

/topic

Conviction is worse. And the sad thing is it's using Unreal Engine 2.

HA! The problems that conviction had PALE in comparison to Double Agent...

Impossible "Double Agent" ran fine... it's missing files from the disc! I mean, even if you did get to play it, you did not get the play it completely.

I remember suffering through that entire game to reach the end. When I disabled the bomb, the ending cutscene did not play at all. It was at that point were I officially decided that Double Agent was the worst game I have ever played.

I still don't believe they CUT OFF KEY CUT-SCENES !!! So you played it on consoles, the story made sense..... you played it on PC....the story was all over the place WTF !!! (PoP Two Thrones I believe also had missing cut-scenes on PC)

Yes, I am not quite sure. I saw a cut-scene once on console.... and I never saw it on PC.

Why do people call GTA IV a bad port? It controls better on PC, it runs better on PC, it looks better on PC. Have you played the console version? The game is a blob, you can't even spot shapes. Not to mention it dips below 20 fps sometimes.GeneralShowzer
Hmm. Care to elaborate how it runs better on the PC? I played both versions and the PC version doesn't look that much better than the console version.. but that's due to the game design, not the platform. It runs terribly on a single GTX 460 1GB.

worst by far was Saint's Row 2 (loads of glitches, no solution) followed by GTA IV (terrible performance until the 1.0.7 patch) Test Drive Unlimited 2 (too early to judge but it looks like a big failure)

Saints Row 2. I don't know if it's partially a driver issue, but that game runs about 15fps with details turned down and running at 1280x720p on my computer. It's unplayable, and hideous.

dead space and resident evil 4 aren't crappy ports, they're just not finished. RE4 is great when you install the mouse aim patch, runs better than on consoles, dead space you have disable vsync and force vsync on 60 hz with rivatuner. I don't know about the other though haven't tried it yet but 'JUST GOOGLE IT' , otherwise you shouldn't be playing pc games

It does NOT control better with the m/kb and it's horribly optimized.

Heaps of games play better with a controller than a mouse/keyboard... are they all bad ports? As for the comment about GTA IVs optimaztion, I just don't get it. It runs great here, looks better than the console versions, higher frame rate. Personally I think a lot of people call "badly optimized" if their system can't run it on the highest settings. :P

The Force Unleashed - They made the port so bad so their original statement of 'needing a 3000 dollar PC to play the game' would be true

Saints Row 2 - Ran like crap eventhough it looked like crap but I still kept playing it because the game was so much fun. I remember they postponed the PC version so they could spend more time on porting... where did that time go ?

Maybe I worded it wrong. Dead Space ran very well after some tweaking with the v-sync and such. But without forcing vsync from Nvidia Panel, you have the most atrocious screen-tearing known to man. Enabling vsync through the game application causes input lag. The x and y axis aiming with the mouse is awful compared to Dead Space 2. And the jaggies... even with AA forced maxed.. But that's really a given coming from Dead Space. To me, that's enough to make it a pretty crappy port.. but like I said, playable. It's just that it felt like a straight up copy and paste port without taking any advantage of the PC hardware.

[QUOTE="Elann2008"][QUOTE="evildead6789"]dead space and resident evil 4 aren't crappy ports, they're just not finished. RE4 is great when you install the mouse aim patch, runs better than on consoles, dead space you have disable vsync and force vsync on 60 hz with rivatuner. I don't know about the other though haven't tried it yet but 'JUST GOOGLE IT' , otherwise you shouldn't be playing pc gamesDoomZaW

Unfinished or not, they were pretty crappy ports. Playable, but very crappy. I believe they were finished, but rushed.

what's wrong with dead space? Ran fine even on my old laptop with a 8600 GS

Read above. :D

GTA 4 Call of Duty Black Ops Double Agent GTA 4 suffered from poor optimization at launch and suffers from other annoying problems as well (no team switching, poor mouse control). The optimization got patched but they ruined it again when they released the DLC. Black Ops is a joke, I'm not even going to explain what's wrong with it - endless list of annoying bugs and glitches. And Double Agent was pretty much unplayable.

Final Fantasy 8 was pretty bad back in the day. I remember it crashing constantly and the movement controls were stupidly bad. Recently, Dead Space, I LOVE that game (on the 360 originally), but the PC port is terrible, nearly unplayable with a mouse. Force Unleashed is near the top as well, dated visuals, numerous bugs, shoddy controls, no optimization, the list goes on...

Still have absolutely no idea why people say dead space was a bad port..it ran well, and once you turned off vsync (which I've never been a fan of) there's no mouse lag

I downloaded the Dynasty Warriors 6 demo for lulz, and was unsurpised to see how horrendous of a port it was. The game had the framerate of a Windows Powerpoint presentation.
