I have a card on order with ebuyer which is http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134732 .... do you think its worth waiting a few weeks for the newer cards to launch for price drops etc. or should i go ahead and get it?

$129 8800GT at newegg.com. I wouldn't see any reason not to buy it.

I think i saw an 8800GT on tigerdirect for like 140... it's probably worth waiting for price drops.

If he could get a similar price in the UK, I'd say go for it. But at its current price, I'd opt for the HD4850 instead.

Remember us Brits pay extra we have VAT at 17.5% included. The HD4850 is good value though just a little more expensive.

Thanks people! What type of performance increases is a 4850 likely to be over the GT?

It gets you about 4 FPS more on Crysis @1600x1200 no AA.

It's around 15-20% better on average I believe.

All the reviews seem pretty positive and yeh i can see there would be a good increase over the GT. Im glad i made this thread :D ill be waiting a few days and prob purchase the 4850 once the order has been refunded. Thanks again!
