Would anyone here be willing to buy/try Kinect?

I have little to no interest at all, even as a gimmick. Something like the Minority Report controls seem like a cool gimmick but even those are no substitute for the ones we already have.

Not even slightly. Kinect on pc is idiotic. Most people dont have a screen near big enough for that

I don't think there is a word in the English language that adequately explains just how disinterested I am in Kinect on the PC or any sort of motion control on the PC.

ASUS will launch a similar device later this year, developed in partnership with the same guys that provided Kinect's technology.

The Kinect hacks are already very impressive. ASUS will release (or has already released, can't remember) the necessary code library for their device, so it should have a bunch of applications ready at launch.

In my work, I use dozens of opened windows across multiple monitors. 7 helped me a lot with its snapping and organic navigation, but I'm sure a Kinect-like thing would help me even more.

If an OS and software supports it: a productive tool for communication and interface yes, a gaming device: no. I got a Wii anyway

Not really, though the games were simpler, back in 99 my brand new Gateway computer came with a webcam and some Kinect style games. The games did react to what you did on screen (like ping pong, popping balloons, knocking objects around, etc.). Kinect looks like more of the same. I still haven't changed my mind. I wasn't interested in, those kinds of games then and I'm not interested in treating it like it's something new and trying it again. Even though the tech's supposed to be more advanced, I haven't seen anything on Kinect so far that's any less shallow than those games from 10 or more years ago, so there's definitely no interest there.

Yes. I liked it a lot when I played it at a party and I think that if my laptop could run it, I could just use that rather than forking out $300 for a new xbox bundle.

I'd be interested in it if there were some actual software to make proper use of it. The thing is I'm more than happy with a mouse and keyboard, even for browsing folders and media on my computer.

Not really the price is to high i have a my PC hooked up to a 60" living room but not alot of room to move around in there so kinect might not even work well. As far as motion controllers go i'm far more interested in the Razer SixSense controller which looks pretty cool focuses on ehanching core games as opposed to casual games and waggle gaming. Altough kinect for controlling a pc in the living room if works well might have a use for htpc but we will see about that.

Razer SixSense 35+games

I hope you know that the kinect version of Michael Jackson the exp look horribly lame: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSfT4vaiZao (skip at 5min30 to see the kinect version)

Just saying in case you pre-ordered expecting something like the wii version or dance central. I almost bought a kinect, but I bought a wii after seeing that (and that EA sport active 2 was worst on kinect).

You just ruined my day Franko.... :( Well, I had hear they were having issues with it (it was supposed to be released in December), so they pushed it back to March to optimize the engine for Kinect and Move. Hopefully it will be good (I have no choice now but to wait and see). I just didn't go for the Wii cause I hate that I always have to put on the controller on my wrist every time I want to play, and also put the Wii Fitness Board every time I want to exercise. With the Kinect, you just turn it on, it recognizes it's you....and picks up the fitness training where you left off the day before.... without nothing to configure physically....

Not really they have an Adult only interactive game already in development. So I would disagree saying it is idiotic these people have quite a great idea.
