Would this be powerful enough to play some great games on the pc?

Buying a Dell Studio XPS 8100 for 750 dollars. Now I know some of you might say buy an alienware if you want to game but I have a limited budget and im not gonna game on the pc that much only once in awhile if a big name title comes out that I want.I needed a new computer pretty much seeing my old one got toasted so I figured a new pc for a decent price and one that could play games if I wanted to.Now my question is what exactly would I be able to run with these specs? And are these specs good? Here they are

Processor:Intel® Core™ i5-650 processor(4MB Cache, 3.20GHz)

Ram:4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 4 DIMMs

Video card:ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3

I will post other specs if needed.

Everything looks good but your videocard is what willl hold your back. Don't expect to max out too many newer games with it.

I think that would suck.. the 5450 from what I've seen in benchmarks, is horrible... not upto modern games at all x.x I'd say just build yourself one, it's cheap and easy x.x

[QUOTE="James2wenty"]Build yourself a laptop? Easy? i think not. your probably talking about a desktop which i would say yeah easy. Seriously the only thing holding you back is your gpu. Everything else is fine. You'll have no problems playing the half life series and tf2 and portal but don't expect to be playing Crysis with a high FPS.

What? I googled the Dell Studio XPS 8100, that's a desktop.

Well someone in the thread already did, but assuming it was a laptop. 750$ can make you a decent enough rig to game on, the dell is just a waste with that gpu and like a piece of crap psu.

I googled this dell and it's a desktop...

Protip: don't buy branded, pre-built pc's!!! Pick the parts yourself and have a pc shop build it for you, if you don't know how

the GPU needs to be better..minimum a 5770 or the nvidia equivelent (a geforce 250 roughly). the 5450 is a pretty narly card for gaming. the CPU is also pretty solid...but if you can stretch to an i5 750 then go for it. thats a very kewl quad more CPU. but the 650 is also nice. ram is fine. really its only the GPU that needs to be improved on. a nicer CPU is an optional luxury :).

Agreed. From the ATI side, look at 4870, 5770, 5850, 5870.

Just build yourself a PC on that budget. Trust me it's not that hard just read the instructions that come with each component and you'll be golden. Also, I recommend that you go with AMD. hang on a few while I come up with a config for you ;)
