FarCry 2 was one of the few games I've actually, physically thrown in the garbage; as in I pulled the trash can out from under my desk and chucked the disc in it out of disgust.
Considering it's $4.99 within a year, I think most people felt the same way.
The only thing Ubisoft could do that would make me buy FarCry 3 is sell the rights back to Crytek.

i think i just described stalker clear sky lol
think i just described stalker clear sky loldevious742Depends how you see it, stalker clear sky did not have that big map or vehicles and the ai is not smart enough to suround you and force you to change your position. The weapons you picked up from enemies were jamming much more than far cry 2.Also you cant repair your weapons, you go to a mehanic to do it for you. But in far cry 2 you just get a new one from the armory for free. Also i wouldnt say weapon damage was that reallistic in clear sky, it took more hits to kill someone for me in clear sky than far cry 2. In far cry 2 i just unloaded in full auto. In stalker i had to control the recoil and spend plenty of bullets or aim for the head. Whatever the case in far cry 2 you dont have to shoot someone 18 times with a pistol to die :) So dont worry you did not describe stalker clear sky from what i played.
If they did away with the tedious driving, the horrible cut and paste missions, and the "sandbox" gamestyle. i.e. everywhre you go itll be the exact same, then yeah.
If they made it diverse, had a real mission structure, put just alittle effort into the missions you got, and took care of the coding of ai. then I would be interrested indeed.
What really annoyied me with FC2 was that Underneath the mess of bad decisions they made again and again, I could see the componants of a good game, just very lazily put together, and uninspired.
Well said. And don't forget the horrible voice acting. OMG, the voice acting was crap, literally crap. Everyone rushed their lines as if they couldn't wait to be done with the game. And the sound of the gunshots were lame, like there's no real bite into them. I'd be interested in a sequel only if it plays and feels absolutely different from FarCry 2, and by that, I mean as different as FarCry 2 was from FarCry 1 (And yes, I know they're from different devs, so don't even bring that up).If they did away with the tedious driving, the horrible cut and paste missions, and the "sandbox" gamestyle. i.e. everywhre you go itll be the exact same, then yeah.

actually the ai is way better than the ai in far cry 2 IMO
... in stalker there is a faction war going on...in far cry 2 you never see it play out
.in stalker you actually get benefits in joining a faction custom armor weapons multiple allies who help you..
in stalker clear sky using a mod btw u can hire fellow faction members to follow and fight for you in far cry 2 well u cant..no mod support
.. in far cry 2 the gun breaks faster than stalker...
in far cry 2 no matter what gun have it takes a full clip to kill someone.. in stalker if you use the right ammo for the right enemy you can kill them very quick ..if the enemy is armored use anti armor ammo and so on..
in stalker clear sky you can upgrade ur weapon with actual weapon mods.. its far cry 2 you just upgrade the stats.. and if theres anything that bothers you in stalker.. you can always fix it via mod mods mods in far cry 2 nothing
I would be, if they made it less repetitive. Seriously, one of the biggest issues with Far Cry 2, was that it got awfully repetitive after a while. Than, there was the low FPS I got from the game, but that probably was caused by the weakness of my PC.

All correct apart from these^
How is the ai in stalker better? they are not even as nearly as fast as far cry and they dont do anything else than shoot. Oh also they can throw grenades at you with 200% accuracy  But in far cry 2 they work as a team and suround you. Far cry 2 ai is far better than the generic stalker ai, IMO
Depends with the weapon, eg sniper rilfes and shotguns are very effective but there are times i shot someone 3 times with either a sniper rilfe or a shotgun and they were still alive. That does not happen in far cry 2. Also the pistols might take the whole clip and not 2-3 clips like stalker.
As for the assault rilfes? Depends by the weapon, the g3 is weak but very accurate so you can unload it in full auto, the ak 47 is powerfull but it has alot of recoil and random accuracy, so you gotta use short bursts. The fn fal is powerfull but losses accuracy so you got to hold it on target and the ar 16 is best used in quick semi auto shots. Thats the best weapon to aim for the head. Now lets take a look at stalker...all the weapons are upgrades, better weapon= more accuracy and more damage, which pretty much kills the point of having a weapon of choice and prefence like in far cry 2 and there is no "diffirent player type = diffirent weapons" It an endless upgrade, and call of pripiyat is gonna be like that too, you gonna start with crappy weapons and get better along the way. Basicly an ak74 would not be effective against strong enemies no matter how much i like using it.
As for the upgrades, yes but those stats changes are often a very weak aspect of the game, after a while a realized that there is any significant diffirence in perfomance with some weapon mods, so i decide to stop spending my money on those upgrades. Having a greanade launcher is an upgrade i agree, but stuff like soft trigger and such are not worth spending money on them, they felt pretty cheap.
I tried changing the stuff i did not like in stalker clear sky via mods, i made the wepons more accurate and powerful and i used better more reallistic weapon sounds but it turns out that for some reason i could not find medkits on the corpses with the mod i used, so pretty much those mods did not really improve the game.
ya i want this game to come as soon as possible with some excellent shooting skills, buddies always supporting us,some sci-fic techniques and new graphics
with bosses.
i am very hungry of this game.
Well i got used to the repettion from that other game Assasin's creed. Anyway the game was greatly optimized, a dual core 2.6ghz and a 8600 gt and you could max it.I would be, if they made it less repetitive. Seriously, one of the biggest issues with Far Cry 2, was that it got awfully repetitive after a while. Than, there was the low FPS I got from the game, but that probably was caused by the weakness of my PC.

"Joining your teammates in these battles, like almost any combat situation in Clear Sky, is a nail-biting excursion into the unknown. Impressive enemy AI is one of the biggest reasons for this. Enemy stalkers make excellent use of cover, crouch and move away when they reload, flank you whenever possible, and generally react in plausible ways. They're tough cookies, so even at standard difficulty, you can't play as you would a standard first-person shooter. The only successful approach is to act and react as you would in real life: with caution and perseverance. Because of the slow flow of cash, you'll often feel spectacularly underpowered, but while these fights are often tense and difficult, clearing out a base with nothing but a pea-shooting pistol and an underpowered hunting rifle feels like a major accomplishment. Just be prepared to save. Often."
yea ill stop here :)
yeah i would, because farcry 2 was great, except for a small number of things.
-respawning enemies
-everyones your enemy
-cant burst tires
-dodgy story (although it really wasnt that bad)
-lack of variation
im interest to know what setting they will use this time. maybe snowy sorta thing?
Give it back to Crytek.
Seriously what were they thinking when they made Far Cry 2? One of the most repetetive games I've ever played.
I did enjoy it, i sort of learned that you did have to make your own gameplay for this game, whether that's what they intended to do or not.
If they follow the same formula they used for FC2 i won't be interested. I hope they take a leaf out of Assassin's creed's book.

Lol because they take cover like a gears of war the ai is impressive? If thats why stalker ai is so impressive then i guess gta iv has the best ai ever since they take cover all the time.
If that is right "clearing out a base with nothing but a pea-shooting pistol and an underpowered hunting rifle feels like a major accomplishment." Then i dont understand how combat in far cry 2 is not fun.
Also i dissagree the enemies in stalker did NOT make and excellent use of cover, actually it felt rather shoddy.
Long story short the ai in stalker could survive against me only because they took many hits and my character took few in the beginning. Oh, and the super accurate greandes. For that alone the ai is pretty overatted.
But in far cry 2 the ai was very fast and agressive, they moved they changed position, they imeddiatly investagate noise andsurround you very fast. Stalker ai feels like a slow turtle in comparison with the seriously agile ai of far cry 2 IMO!!

selective reading i see o well obvious troll is obvious:roll: I thought about including that but i did not see a reason so i deleted the remaining text. But guess what? They did duck and move in SOC and it looked terrible, also they are tough? In far cry 2 they are also tough.
Neither you would play far cry 2 as a standard fps . I never not even once got flanked in stalker, how will i will be fflanked if their moving speed is slower than a turtle?
I always want new games no matter how much I didn't like the previous installment. If there is a far cry 3, they'll use dunia, better optimised, with more stuff to do and remove annoying respawning enemies so it'll be what far cry 2 wasn't.polarwrath11
mmmmmmmmmmm, do you really think optimization was a problem? i thought that was one of the few things done perfectly
Looking back at ubisoft's latest games PoP, FC2, and AC, they have all had rather impressive environments but thats about it. The storylines have been meh at best, and they basically came up with a couple of ideas for gameplay and make you do it over and over until the game ends.
I think they really need to hire some people that actually know how to write good stories and introduce some fresh ideas for gameplay. They can keep making these large impressive environemnts all they want but, if gamplay and story doesn't improve I will probably stop buying their products in the future.
Why does everyone think they have to drive through the checkpoints?
It's a beautifully rendered, huge landscape - you are given 4 wheel drive vehicles - why would you stay on the roads.?
I love Far Cry 2 - I would like to see better missions, and more story though, for Far Cry 3.
