Not that I don't appreciate their good cause and the fact that others paid a lot more money to buy all those games in the humble bundle, but I recon the same thing would have happenedĀ  if I had paid the full price.

Anyway, Battlefield 3 crashed after I finished the first lvl of the campaign (at the 2nd loading screen, to be precise). It's the kind of crash that I get relatively often and when it happenes I have to reboot Windows, which I did but then the audio service was off (that never happened b4). Reinstalling the audio driver didn't help so I did a system restore, got the sound back, B3 was gone but I still had the game folder with all 20GB in it. Since I couldn't find anything like "setup.exe" I just clicked on "download" on Origin thinking it would say "100% complete", but it deleted the whole folder. Out of despair i undid the system restore but only got 100MB back.

I know I should have been more carefull, but what's the deal with B3 screwing up Windows? Or is it just a coincidence? And if it happenes again, how do I fix the audio service issue?

You really dont know much about computers or software do you? I mean I know you got "specs" in your sign but that evidently means nothing. Just because it doesnt happen to you doesnt mean it doesnt happen.

If you spend any time at all pouring through the millions of people and the millions of problems they haave had with BF3 you would see it isnt just "your system". I know you want to believe bugs and problems are static meaning if it happens to one person it happens to everyone but youre wrong.

Thanx for creating an account just to help me (might be sarcasm ;)), but what are you talking about? The worst part of my problem is that I have to redownload the whole game, for which I need 6-7 hours, and it totally didn't have to happen.

This seems to be a fairly common problem, so some research online might help.

I can't exactly help though as I don't own the game.

If your PC "often" crashes then there is a f-cking problem with it you idiot, go run your mouth about how smart you are elsewhere.

considering this line in the OP: "Ā It's the kind of crash that I get relatively often and when it happenes I have to reboot Windows"

It would lead one to believe it is most likely a problem with the TCs computer

Im new here and I am now enthusiastic about looking around and replying:) sry i thought u are mad about how to uninstall bf3 thoroughly... but now I see your problem and I know a method might help if u meet this problem next time: 1. Rename ur original bf3 folder ( to something like "bf3.1") 2. Download bf3 on Origin, and just stop it after finishing 1% 3. Delete the downloaded folder 4. Rename ur original bf3 folder (in my case "bf3.1") to "Battlefield 3". After these steps ur bf3 should have come back on Origin:)

The multiplayer of BF3 was so unstable that crashes were some sort of routine for me... However, I have found a method diminished the problem. I'm not sure this would help for singleplayer: 1. Open the CMD console; 2. Enter the command "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072"; 3. Press "Enter" and reboot the computer. As the introduction of the method says, this command would allow a single task to dominate 3GB RAM, which is required by BF3. Hope this helps.

BF3 crahses every now and then on my laptop with Radeon 6770M, even though i have a solid framerate on low-mid settings. no crashes what so ever on my desktop PC with Geforce GTX 560.

i blame HP custom drivers on this one.

>start>run>type services.msc>right click "windows audio">start Audio service is now back on. It also sounds to me like your install is fine. Just your shortcut got messed up. Have you tried opening it the old fashioned way?

Alright thanx for all the help. I reinstalled the game and it did crash once, but after a Windows reboot everything was good. No problem with audio this time. These crashes I get are funny, I don't know what causes them, I looked it up, but couldn't find anything on it, apparently noone has that same problem :/. Anyway after a system reboot everything always works fine, exept after I installed B3. That's why I thought it might have something to do with it.

If your PC is crashing regularly then you probably have a problem elsewhere. The fact you had a bad crash with BF3 that appeared to have caused some file corruption, it may just be coincidence, or it's be exasperated by your PC's existing problems.

Everyone has gets crashes on PC's now and then and some software can be worse than others for different people. Though I've very rarely seen a game crash to the point where a system didn't work correctly after a reboot and most certainly not for several years.

I suggest you look further into why your PC is unstable, sort that problem out and a game crashing will be a minor inconvenience rather than a major hassle.

BF3 crashing, glitching, and acting weird in the campaign is nothing new. DICE ignored the campaign and co-op mode after the 2nd or 3rd patch.

I hate Origin more than EA. Origin prevents me from playing potentially good EA games because I don't want to have anything to do with it.

Here's the latest bug: Origin crashes when I try to log in. If I reinstall it will I still have B3 installed? I won't download it for the 3rd time, that's for sure.
