It depends what you are looking to do in the game, really. I played WoW originally for the PvE content, as of all the games out right now it's probably has the best PvE end game content around. They also offer PvP which I tend to find uninspired and boring. If you were to compare endgame now on WoW to GW pvp endgame I honestly think GW wins. With WoW's new Arena system it virtually kills most high level world PvP, forcing everyone to queue up an infinite ammount of times for any kind of PvP fun. That alone reminds me of guildwars, since you're queuing up for these crazy battles and not so much running out into the world and fighting. Only thing I can say for GW is it seems to offer more arenas and different scenarios that make GW>WoW as for pvp.

Just my 2 cents, GW for PvP or WoW for PVE.Lambss
I agree with this post. one of the reasons i left WoW was because i was bored of the endless pve grind and the pvp was not satisfying.

WoW is a better game. Not to mention it has quite a bit more content, you get what you pay for. Try WoW for free to see if you like it.Sushbag88
WoW is a lot more fun the first time in the lowbie levels than at higher level. it's like a totally different game.

I played GW before I got WoW and i thought it was a great game(it is) but then when i got convinced into getting WoW, i have forgotten about GW

WoW has every advantage , except the payments

great community, pvp, massive world, tons of people, lots of fun dungeons, different races and plenty of classes, professions are great, and i definately like the horde/alliance thing better than everyone is human(in GW)

WoW beats GW in every category

only downside with WoW is that it takes time to get to the best stuff, but u get plenty of rewards for getting there

in GW everyone is 20 so there is no special feeling about getting to the level cap, and tehre really isnt many terrific rewards in GW

and anyways in GW they almost seem to make previous game's items and armor useless, so if you want anything top of the line you will have to keep getting the newest expansions which can make it as expesive as wow

WoW(game=$20+2 30 day game cards[$30 each]=$80 and COMPLETELY worth it) you can get BC but its not necessary really til u get to 60

where as with GW you can either feel left out with much less things to do and stuff to get you can buy one $40 expansion or

$120 for all 3

Guild Wars is an excellent game, with a very solid PvP element to it.

With that said, I feel the only logical reasons to get GW instead of WoW is if you dont want to pay a subscription fee, or if you want to PvP only and not do much PvE.

WoW has everything, whereas the whole fun of GW is to PvP.  Even the PvE content is focused around PvP; you quest through the relatively short quests and whatnot just to unlock skills to use in PvP combat.  Also, GW is no a true MMORPG, whereas WoW is in that its persistant and you can run across random people and quest with them and do dungeons and all that fun stuff.

WoW if you're willing to sacrifice any life outside of the game. GW if you want to live outside of the game.

 Taken from Recent Interview:

Jeff Strain, former Blizzard coder and co-founder of the dev team behind Guild Wars, is clearly enjoying having me on the hook while I'm on the horn.

He's talking up Guild Wars 2 when I break in with the most, I believe, relavent question: Are you going to charge a monthly subscription fee this time around?

"With Guild Wars 2 we will be introducing a persistent world," he says, as almost an excuse. "We will have playable races. Everything you expect in a subscription system..."

He pauses for dramatic effect.

"...and we decided not to charge a subscription fee."

Why do people play a game for PvE? You honestly like killing the same type of enemy for 300+ hours - all day, every day? It's a joke. It's practically a job. It's fun in WoW levels 1-30, but after that it becomes a joke. I'd say avoid WoW right now. Probably Guild Wars too - but I never played it so give it a try.

I like doing PvE because questing with people is fun.  Very few games allow you to work cooperatively with a group of other to accomplish a complex objective, and WoW is one of them.  All other games seem to turn into team deathmatch before teamwork.  Besides, if I wanted to PvP, I would go play Counterstrike
