But I'm slightly more interested in the display he's got it hooked up to, since that many 580s is going to overkill for anything less than several thousand pixels in both directions.
I think I'd prefer 1 or 2 580s and the most badass monitor/HDTV I could find with the extra cash (once you've deducted the enormous power bill, of course :P ).

Lol having a monster PC =/= being a millionaire guys ... :P They are not _that_ expensive ;) You just need to earn a little bit more than the average joe, and have an interest in PCs. If he worked a London for example, being a business analyst would bring in ~90K pounds (about 130K USD) a year. (That's what I'm aiming for after my studies ;)) Buying a 5000 GBP PC every 18 months is only a small fraction of that salary... you could easily afford it with 50K/year check. hardly some one who drivers ferrarris and owns a mansion lol Tbh 40,000 pounds a year is enough if you really dedicate your money to your PC, which is actually below average in say, london.
Totally. But this thread got me thinking of saving up cash for two new monitors (for triple-monitor setup). Since I have sli now, I better put it to good use.

There is no way he is not loaded. I dont think an "computer enthusiast" is willing to spend 6k+ on a computer when they dont have lots of money. I love computers but there is no way i will ever spend that money.
^you re just not as enthusiastic as him please remember the actually prices that corresponds to these things. not everybody has a balanced budget for things. some people will really stretch half their budget to get what they want and spend less on those that are less important. let's say you are making decent money 30-50k and don't have much expenses. instead of that 10k car u wanted, u decide to get a 3k car and spend 7k on that computer u really wanted.
