I have a bit of a problem here...I want to start playing WoW again soon so I can get a warrior up to the higher levels for Wrath of the Lich King...But theres a bit of a problem...

I want to play a warrior, but I also want to play Horde. I used to play alliance before burning crusade came out, and since then I've been on the horde, mainly playing Blood Elves. I've noticed the players are more mature on the Horde, and I was getting into less arguements, and the chat in cities was usually intellectual instead of spam.

Heres where the problem comes in. Blood Elves can't be Warriors. And I've only really been playing Blood Elves on the horde, because I dont think I can really play any of the other races. If I could I would like to play a human on the Alliance, but I'd much rather be with nicer players on the Horde. So which race should I play?

My main choices are Orc or Tauren. It would feel pretty wierd for me to play a bull, and Orcs look a bit brutish. Although I like them both. I'm leaning more towards Orc but I dont know. Tauren could be fun too.

Or I could just sacrifice me playing on the horde to play an alliance race, but then I'd lose my friends and I would get fed up with the players on the alliance. I would rather not do that, but I'm not sure what race I should play on Horde. Troll could be fun too I guess...but I'd probably rather not play them...And I definately dont want to play an undead.

Please help. :(

How can you stand playing blood elves they're stance is just lame. >_>

My choice would to become a cow(tauren) just cause of their dance.

Tauren or Orc. Taurens look so badass with epic'ed out gear. Beast. I would stay on the Horde. I've played Alliance toons most of my WoW career and it's very disappointing if you pvp.. And you tend to run into more immature people on the alliance side. To each their own.

Be a Tauren. They have the (imo)best racial in the game for a melee class; the stun.

Go tauren. They just look...awesome. Orcs are good too imo. I like tauren cuz of the stomp they do though.

As for blood elves, why dont you make a paly? Theyre melee, wear plate, and can tank, dps, or heal as needed for end game content. Im leveling my paly as protection and it is badass.

Tauren have a natural 5% bonus to HP that equates to a lot of heath at high levels, and their stun is great for PvP. Undead warriors are also good because of will of the forsaken, but I'd recommend Tauren. I personally have a level 70 Tauren warrior tank that is into SSC/TK/Hyjal/BT progression (I haven't ventured too far into TK but the badge gear lets me move into Hyjal), so if you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM.

I play as Human Warrior (Alliance), yes the trade chat can be irritating but it's honestly not that bad since you don't even have to listen to it if you turn it off. Easy. Guild chat is far more interesting most of the time anyway, you get a nice community together (hell, I don't care how old they are as long as they're mature about it).

But yeah, trust me. Just disable trade chat. Download spam me not addon and ignore anyone whos immature if you absolutely need the /1 city channel. Otherwise just go and disable it. Makes Alliance much more enjoyable. It makes more of a challenge too (which I personally find fun), theres no way your getting your PvP marks unless you premake Arathi Basin/Warsong Gultch teams, though Alterac Valley I usually find Alliance win. Either way, a nice guild solves all your problems, no matter how hard they are to find.

Despite how much I try to support the Alliance, if you really are going to roll Horde I'll tell you this:

1) Please don't roll a Blood Elf. I thought I'd be obvious just by looking at them why you don't want to. Plus, I have an absolute loathing for Blood Elf Paladins, they're just so friggin many of them with no skill, they just sit there not caring about anyone else and spam heal themselves expecting the priests/druids to do the work - what the hell.

2) Orcs in my opinion look better in the higher tier armours. Taurens are pushing it a bit in terms of size (just my opinion here, but take a look at some of them in Tier 5/6 or S2/S3 and you might get what I mean). And hey, at least orcs don't get the cow jokes thrown at them.

3) Undead are the choice of race for PvP though. Will of the Forsaken = best racial for warriors imo.

I have a 70 Blood Elf Paladin. I stopped playing him because I'm not accepted into raids/arena because I dont heal. I started out as retribution but then switched to protection and it was awesome. I can tank instances and I'm sure I can tank raids, but no one wants me to tank for them. They are good at everything for low levels, and at high levels too. But unless your a healer then you wont be able to find many instance groups or raid groups. And retribution is a pretty crappy spec at higher levels if you want to PvP, unless you have really good raid gear or something.

Paladin just isnt a good class for me. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, but I cant.

Find yourself a new guild. If your current guild tells you how to play the game then leave and find one that doesn't.

you just have to prove to them you can tank a raid. It's not as easy as it seems all the time.

Think of it from their view, they dont know how good you are at being a tankadin, and if they gave you a chance in... sunwell for example, it would end up being a complete waste of time for them unless they found a new tank, which is a hassle. Making a pally heal if they're not holy is a way of saying "fine, we'll include you, but we dont trust you. and as such you have little to no responsibility"

Theres something about playing as a bull that I cant get into. I know the Orcs are probably smarter than humans (in game of course). And Thrall is just awesome. As I said I'm leaning more towards Orc, but I'm sure Tauren would be cool too. Although Orcs have cooler animations.

i've played the game intermittently for over 2 years as Horde on Maelstrom, and i honestly don't know from where you got the idea that horde players are more "intellectual". reading the public chat in barren and ogrimmar for even a short while during peak hours would effectively kill your IQ to a great extent.

I play on Medivh. Alliance chat is unbearable compared to the horde chat. On the horde, the chatbox isnt spammed all the time, and most of the conversations have a point, and the players are more respectful of eachothers opinions. Also, people cooperate in groups, and listen.

Well Tauren are huge and look awesome in epic gear and their weapons and mounts are just ginormous, it looks insane, like you're fighting a giant. Orcs are pretty cool too and look awesome with their epic gear. If I were you, I would pick orc because Tauren can't wear boots (well you can, but you can't see them) and they look like they run really slow, plus they have a tail and horns and a lot of hair that protrudes through their cape and chest armor, which annoys me. But hey, do whatever you want.

Tauren has +5% hp which is great if your going for a prot spec in the later game.

So the tauren is the best race for a war tank.

MrLions

You prefer blood elves over the other horde races? Not really sure how, since they are pretty lame. I'm guessing you don't like the "monster/beast" aspect. In which case, stick with alliance.

Anyway, to answer, taurens have War Stomp, stuns a group of nearby enemies if you are getting in trouble and need to buy some time for heals, and I'm pretty sure it increases threat. Orcs have bloodfury (or bloodrage? forget the name). It will increase your attack power for a short time, but it also reduces heals on you by a percentage, which could be really bad if you use it at the wrong time. Some priests get pissed off if you start using bloodfury all the time.

I've noticed overall that alliance tends to get more pissy in instances than horde. Or not really knowing what they are doing. But that doesn't always apply, there's idiots in both factions.

If you don't like your character, don't play it. I will never roll a class or race combo I don't like just for stats or because a guild wants me too. If I don't find it enjoyable, what's the point? You're playing to have fun, afterall.

The racials and stats are minor anyway. If you're a crap warrior, no racials or stats are going to save you. Pick what you want to play. And no, if you really don't like taurens, you probably aren't going to like them later on.

I however like taurens. I play a tauren druid :P

I agree, Taurens look great when fully geared. And the immaturity comes from most of the alliance being children who play WoW (with their naive thoughts that the good guys should always win -.-). Yeah, so stay Horde and go Tauren :)

Both can be extremely immature. I'm finding Horde immaturity tends to be more of the "I'm l33t" variety, while Alliance immaturity tends to be more of the begging kid variety. That's from playing on a few different servers, though. It may very well be different on other servers out there. Before the expansion,Horde was quite mature on my current server. There were some elitist types, but the population was small enough that you would quickly alienate yourself if you got a reputation for being annoying, etc. After the expansion, Horde has a lot higher population, and you're just as likely to run into very annoying types at all levels of the game. Before, they would just hit a wall during Barrens and reroll.

There might be another server worth checking out for Alliance, as someone else suggested to the OP.

Otherwise, just decide the race based on aesthetics and racials. Both Orcs and Taurens are good for warrior. Taurens have the war stomp racial which comes in rather handy. My brother plays a Tauren warrior and has told me he's been able to save healers, etc many times with a well placed war stomp. They also have more health. On the other hand, their hit box is huge. Depending on where you need to tank, if you decide to tank, finding a decent camera angle where you can see around your character can be challenging. You're also the biggest guy on the field in pvp and quite targeted first.

You can get used to the running, but until you do it'll feel slow as molasses. I had the same problem when I went from human to troll when I rerolled Horde. Now it feels normal, and Orcs, etc feel quite speedy.

Orcs have some nice racials, like their stun resistance, but the Taurens are probably better on the whole. They do have a lot smaller hit box. Personally, I like the looks and story of the Orcs quit a bit better. They have some nice emotes, too. When I made my warlock, choosing Orc was a no brainer for me.

I like Taurens but I find the lore of the orcs easier to get into. They used to basically be simple brutes, but since Thrall has been the leader of the Horde they have become a much wiser and sophisticated race.

And responding to your previous post...

I love leading groups, and I've been doing it for a long time. On the Alliance, unless your in a high level raiding guild, leading groups is too hard. Leading noob groups is always more difficult than the higher levels, but even leading higher level groups on the alliance, well, no one cooperates and listens. Group runs are better on the Horde, everyone listens to what I say for boss fights and such, and if they dont already know how to defeat that particular boss, or are unsure what to do on another part of the run, they learn much faster.

Myrkan

Actually, yes, there are raiding guilds that accept members who are all classes/specs. You might just have to be a backup though.

Yeah, probably...But they would be hard to find.

My plan is to be a warrior right now, so help me with that. :P

And no, your opinion on paladin is very outdated... VERY VERY outdated, especially in WOTLK

Well I got my pally to 70 within the first month of BC release...People only wanted me to heal...Are people more open-minded with horde paladins now?

Well my best mate is a Sunwell Tankadin, there are trohpy retadins, and yes some healadins.

In WOTLK currently beta wise Paladins are THE best tanks, RET does mana regen and awesome damage like a shadow priest ect ect.

WOTLK stance on classes is very different,

[QUOTE="Elann2008"]Tauren or Orc. Taurens look so badass with epic'ed out gear. Beast. I would stay on the Horde. I've played Alliance toons most of my WoW career and it's very disappointing if you pvp.. And you tend to run into more immature people on the alliance side. To each their own. Vastano

I agree, Taurens look great when fully geared. And the immaturity comes from most of the alliance being children who play WoW (with their naive thoughts that the good guys should always win -.-). Yeah, so stay Horde and go Tauren :)

There are no good guys in WoW. The Alliance likes to think they are more civilized and all (this is game lore, not the players, mind you), and the Horde likes to think people should have their own unique cultures without being held back by the rules of the alliance. For example, some of the night elves didnt want their own to practice magic, and cast them out. Instead of allowing them to build perhaps another empire that was still part of the alliance, they were basically outcasts and eventually became high elves. The High Elves still found a place within the alliance, although not a prominent part. Once they became Blood Elves, the Alliance once again cast them out. The Horde took them in, and allowed them to build their own unique culture without being judged.

Let me put it this way.

The undead on the horde arent evil, their leader is Sylvanas Windrunner, the high elf Arthas killed. Sylvanas then created the Forsaken, and basically their only goal is revenge on the scourge.

The Tauren were a nomadic race, barely surviving with their Centuar enemies destroying them. Their culture resembles that of perhaps the Native Americans. They are strongly in tune with nature, their god being the Earth Mother. After Thrall helped them survive, they joined the Horde.

The Trolls...Well, there isnt much lore besides the fact that the Darkspear trolls decided to break off from the others and join the horde...I dont really know much about them, but they werent ever a real campaign or anything in the Warcraft games.

The Orcs were never really evil. They didnt really know who the humans were until they decided to attack them. Thrall, who was raised by humans, eventually became their leader. Forming the Orcish Horde and building Orgrimmar. (the first two warcraft games arent very fresh in memory, so I apologize if I missed anything...)

I already explained the Blood Elves.

[QUOTE="Jinroh_basic"]i've played the game intermittently for over 2 years as Horde on Maelstrom, and i honestly don't know from where you got the idea that horde players are more "intellectual". reading the public chat in barren and ogrimmar for even a short while during peak hours would effectively kill your IQ to a great extent.BobZany

Same here, I love the lore behind the orcs and their animations and such. The hit box thing you explained might get difficult, and being a huge target on the battlefield might be a problem. Considering Tauren dont have such a huge health boost until higher levels or your a twink.

The running animation on Tauren might feel slow I guess, but I'm sure I'll get used to it if I roll one.

The Animations on the Tauren are also a bit too simple for me. The orcs have some more elaborate animations, and they look incredible attacking enemies dual wielding swords. Then again, Tauren at higher levels look awesome dual wielding axes with the huge armor.

The undead on the horde arent evil, their leader is Sylvanas Windrunner, the high elf Arthas killed. Sylvanas then created the Forsaken, and basically their only goal is revenge on the scourge.the undead create a plague they unleash upon the living, killing both horde and alliance who had united and were about to fight arthas at the wrath gate(bolvar, the dude in sw keep got kiled cuz of this).sylvannas had ordered the creation of the plague but varimathras double-crossed her with it so she went and cried to Thrall to help.

The Tauren were a nomadic race, barely surviving with their Centuar enemies destroying them. Their culture resembles that of perhaps the Native Americans. They are strongly in tune with nature, their god being the Earth Mother. After Thrall helped them survive, they joined the Horde.if any race is like native americans, its the night elves. the tauren are more like some random tribe in asia or africa.

The Trolls...Well, there isnt much lore besides the fact that the Darkspear trolls decided to break off from the others and join the horde...I dont really know much about them, but they werent ever a real campaign or anything in the Warcraft games.they used to be really messed up like zul'jin but then they were cast out of the troll empires and attacked by murlocs when thrall saved them.

The Orcs were never really evil. They didnt really know who the humans were until they decided to attack them. Thrall, who was raised by humans, eventually became their leader. Forming the Orcish Horde and building Orgrimmar. (the first two warcraft games arent very fresh in memory, so I apologize if I missed anything...)as a child, orgrim doomhammer was saved by some dranei after getting lost in a forest. when he grew up he commited genocide on them along with therest of the horde.

I already explained the Blood Elves.i used to go out of my way in battlegrounds to kill blood-elves

the entire horde except for the trolls and tauren is evil. and i would think that most 10-year olds would roll horde because they want to be the *bad guys*. on the doomhammer server, most of the alliance is pretty much pro. the only bad thing is the spam in IF. but you could easily enable spam filters in the options. if you think alliance conversations go nowhere, go to barrens chat. i believe the horde set the record for most chuck norris jokes told in a minute.

I was just saying the horde wasnt exactly evil. I dont know what the hell you are talking about with this Orgrim Doomhammer thing, thats not part of the warcraft lore. And that was a pretty stupid story you made up about him. Thrall uses the hammer of Orgrim. Orcs were originally red skinned and evil, but they found a way to no longer be slaves, and decided to follow a higher path.

I dont dont know much about the forsaken, but I know Thrall wouldnt knowingly help them kill all living beings.

Theres not much lore behind the trolls, besides that they were desperate and allied with the orcs after Thrall helped them.

The Tauren are more like native americans. The Night Elves are focused more on spiritual magic and preserving nature, which means overgrown forests and obsessive tree hugging. The Tauren are a somewhat nomadic species who know that all life is connected. They know that nature is there for them not only to respect but take advantage of. The Native Americans respected nature, because they knew it gave them shelter and nourishment. They praised the buffalo because it provided them with housing, food, and clothing. So think for a while before you say Night Elves are more like Native Americans. They hardly respect nature. They intervene with everything, they think they have to save nature and protect both the predator and the prey. The Tauren respect nature, not putting themselves above it, but instead being a part of it and using it to their advantage, but loving it at the same time. Just like the Native Americans praised nature and used it to survive, the Tauren do the same.

I'm not really sure why you have a beef with blood elves besides the fact that they are thousands of years ahead of the night elves in evolution in the games lore. And also the fact that they are cooler than most races on the alliance and your just in denial because now you dont have a reason to insult the horde.

I can play rough too.
