well the fact that it doesn't massacre it either that much, and you can get the 8800 gtx for ~500-600  and get it up easily to 8800 ultra levels leaves me unconcerned with that. Even sli'ing the 8800 gts 320 mb isn't a bad idea as well, seing that you can get one for ~200 nowadays.

This seems to be the fact everyone is missing,the HD2900xt is actually competing with the 8800 gts (from a price standpoint).

But those who have the cash will go for the gtx but i'll go with the 2900,because A) i prefer ati's cards and B) It's like you say the best bang for your buck.

The 2900 seems to be highly overclockable, reaching 850 | 1100, with stock air cooling
