xbox360 games  are made in 720p 1080p just makes the pic more clearer but people have been saying 1080p is a waste of time so buy a 720p tv and save yourself some money for the upcoming games

The XBOX 360 can display in 720p and 1080p! 1080i is only capable by the 360's scaler/interlacer. It can do both highe def resolutions. The first, second and most of the 3rd gen. titles are limited to 720p, but the 360 has a secret weapon in it's internal digital scaler that will scale the resolution to match your display. It will even add some anti-aliasing to make the image smoother. I'd definately get a 1080p set. Newer 360 games will be both 720p and 1080p plues with it's digital scaler you should notice a big improvement in texture smoothness. 1080p is more relavent than people believe it is, but people also tend to live in the present rather than think about the future; 3,4, or 5 years down the road you will have regreted buying a 720p set if you could've afforded a 1080p in the then present. Just go 1080p now and save yourself the decision in the future.

Depends what you have the cash for. I went for a 46" Bravia V2500, but not on the basis of it's resolution. It also had an extra HDMI, I use it as a computer monitor (yay high resolution), and a better backlight. Plus it's the most aesthetically pleasing LCD on the market imo, but all you need to do is research your desicion, see what features are important to you, and find the TV that matches your needs. If it's strictly for gaming, I think 720p is fine.

If you have the Tv and/or the money, i guess go for 1080p. Personally, im fine with 720p.  Its high res, and enough for me ( plus my PC's LCd goes up to 1680x1050, not 1080p )

It's up to the developer one whether the game is native 720p or 1080p. If you're going to get a 1080p tv though you'll need to look for one that accepts 1080p over component (really rare) or has a VGA slot. All games are currently 720p as the update for 1080p only came a few months ago but some future games will be native 1080p. The reason that so few games are 1080p native is because raising the resolution from 720p to 1080p takes so much power and offers such little difference so that it's better to use the recources elsewhere.

I can't tell you how good the upscaler is and whether 720p native is worse than 1080p upscale but I would imagine so.

Xbox 360 content is natively encoded for 720p. However, this doesn't mean that developers can't opt to create or up that to 1080p if they so desire. If you can afford it, go with a 1080p HDTV. At least then you'll be covered for gaming console-wise for several years, as well as (should be) good to go to see HD-DVD and BluRay movies as they were originally intended.
